Hey guys, I am about to lease a 4S (well optioned) w/ a $149K sticker. I am getting the car @ $38K off sticker (dealer, Porsche + fed incentive) -- comes out to $1540/month w/ $5000 down (+$1350 shipping cost).

Is the extra $300/month worth it for a GTS or is a well optioned 4S going to provide enough "Sport" to keep me entertained? I've heard enough people praise the 4S and say that the GTS in the EVs doesn't provide a whole lot of extra performance, just styling.

I have a 2025 Taycan 4 loaner at the moment and I know a lot of people don’t care about the sound but personally even though both my GTS and the loaner had electric sound they are just not the same and I do miss my GTS sound even though it’s fake. It’s so much more deeper and better sounding IMO.

What is well optioned? We need to see your full 4S spec, but even then, GTS is tuned differently if comparable on all performance options, so handling will be different, since that is what GTS is about, unique character. Otherwise, just straight line differences are below, assuming you have the bigger battery on the 4S.

J1.2 Taycan 4S has the same power output as the original J1.1 GTS

For me that was more than enough and so on that comparison allone more than enough "sport".

GTS has a bespoke Electric Sound (personally I hated it and always switched it off).

The powertrain is the same, the power can be tuned if desired, then they are both at 940 PS.
The reason for the sport sound sounding louder/deeper is because it makes a deeper sound with more power/torque. Tuned they make the same sound.

I would recommend focusing on the spec. The GTS comes with a lot more goodies as standard whereas in the 4S you have to tick a lot of boxes to get to the same level.
How well optioned is the 4S in comparison to the GTS?

This and prj's response are on the money...

You need to detail the 4S spec.

I bought a GTS... Considered it the sweetspot for me in terms of dynamics, and I like the interior etc of the J1.1 much more than I did the 4S...all subjective though.

For the J1.1 the GTS has over 40% more torque over the 4S due to the different rear motor and this is in 2nd gear. Due to the gearbox the wheel torque is over 60% higher in first.

However on the J1.2 there aren't any drastic differences like that. The wheel torque is just 12% more in normal driving and 14% more in launch control. However the interesting thing about the GTS is that the launch control torque is also available in push to pass, whereas with the 4S only the launch power is available in push to pass. So the difference in push to pass is 24%.

Still a far cry from the 60%+ difference of the first gen. The difference is a lot more subtle this time around, so it's all about the spec.

@mhs118, this is a winner spec for the 4S. I am not sold on Active Ride, not a miss in my view. Rest of the Performance options are in it. Therefore, I conclude that GTS is not worth $300 extra a month, I would go with this 4S, and compared to the first gen GTS, this cost as much.

Is there anything specific chassis-wise to the GTS that you "lose" from the 4s, so to speak? Like less sound deadening to cut weight or something like that?

Just to correct this seems like the GTS has a unique electric sound compared to other non-GTS models. Since it’s a fake sound coming from the speakers I would be surprised if having more power makes any difference to that sound.

The GTS has suspension/handling specifically tuned for more sporty handling - you can't option this on the 4S (or any other model).

Are all J1.2 Taycan 4 through the Taycan Turbo S, the exact same hardware, therefore tunable to the exact same power and torque?
