You are clueless! This is a poll from the TAYCAN USERS GROUP!!!!

I’m out. This is ridiculous.
I’d make a bet that here‘s no single person who would use brick as 3% on FB.

You are clueless! This is a poll from the TAYCAN USERS GROUP!!!!
And who controls this group?
Me and two others.
I let people in (and out), I see which kind of people.
And you are calling me clueless?
I've been around here long enough to see the difference between Facebook and this forum.
What I do see is that you don't understand other people's opinions and why they matter.
All I'm saying (like others) is that even if people find it ok to unplug a vehicle it's not even possible.
What more answers do you want?
Through this topic you've gathered following info:
-75% of Facebook people is ok with unplugging.
-Most cars can't be unplugged.

What you still DON'T know is how many people from this forum are ok with unplugging so I suggested to do a poll over here which I, myself, would be very interested in. (I.e. what if it's the opposite? That would be funny, right?)
But no, you choose to dm me and call me all kind of things.
Yes, please stop if you are not convinced about the good intentions of my suggestions.

Yeah…but still - if cars are locked, there’s no sense to put such note at all, right?
I think it's only for people who actually know their car and want to put a sign on it.
It would be pretty funny if the plug was locked but the sign said "ok to unplug"...lol.
But that wasn't the subject, it was about the etiquette.

It seems like there could be so many useful software ways to solve this problem. Like what if you could just tap a button on the screen and notify the owner of a charged vehicle that you were waiting? The notification could text them or pop up in their EA / insert-charger-group-here app. Could also give consent to unplug if possible.

Sigh, we can dream...

I have stated in the original post and many times after...many cars, including Ford MachE do NOT lock! Others will enable unlocking automatically after full charge.

Etiquette is important for two reasons: 1) personal betterment; and 2) societal adhesion, peace and happiness.

With respect to the first point, you likely will feel better if you make an effort to be reasonable and treat others the way in which you wish to be treated (at a minimum, it's great fuel for righteous indignation) even if nobody else in the world even tries to do the right thing. Playing in the mud is only fun for so long.

With respect to the second point, you have to have a society that actually cares about doing the right thing, being polite, and not being selfish. Unfortunately, I feel like we have backslid a long ways over the past decade, and I feel like people are more selfish and rude than they have been for a long time. It's a shame, and we are paying the price in the form of political instability, higher stress levels, and lower quality of life. People should be mindful of not using public resources carelessly, or keeping them from others, or taking matters into their own hands when they believe that someone else is failing to be reasonable or polite.

In case there is any doubt, I'm so far from perfect that anyone who knows me would not read this as me preaching to others, but rather selfishly reminding myself as to why I don't unplug others (not to mention break windows, key paint, and flatten tires). :)

I was thinking...
No...no....hear me out, this one is something to think about when you own a car that will release the plug.

On a HPC (DC) there's a plug which will release if you press a button, even when the car is locked (Ford Mach E for instance).
All clear.

But what will happen if you use your own cable on a AC charger (destination charger, 22/11/3,6kW etc) and you press a button?
Will it release too?
If so you have the following situation when you unplug the cable from the car:
1. The charger will release your cable as well (common behavior).
2. You need to release the cable from the charger with a fob/RFID card (common behavior as well).

So, if you car (Ford Mach E) is locked and you are away, someone else can unplug your own cable, right?
In situation 1. He can steal your cable.
In situation 2. He can't charge cuz the cable is still attached to the charger cuz he doesn't have your fob/RFID card.

Did they think this through at Ford?
I think not and that's exactly the reason why most cars won't release the plug when the car is locked.
Or am I missing something here?

“Off grid”
This might look silly but....
Running a generator on it's optimum rpm and with all the conversion losses in making electricity might even be more efficient than burning those cans of petrol in an ice car...
Have you ever thought about that? ?
Would be interesting to find out (I don't know the kWh/l of the generator).
Internal combustion engines have a 20-25% thermal efficiency at best, the rest goes out the tailpipe and radiators where electric motors do around 90%...
