Cherry Red not available?

I have waited 13 months and build should be in March. I have had to order a different colour as the dealer says cherry red is not available and does not know if it will become available. Anyone know why?

I too have a March build slot and wanted Cherry and the dealer said he didn’t know if it is discontinued or just temporarily unavailable, so I’ve gone for G blue.

Very strange…I mean they make any paint color on the spectrum (paint by sample) but they can’t create a standard color they’ve had for three plus years…I’m not sure what color I would’ve opted for. Maybe reach out and ask them why it’s on the Porsche Configurator for new builds…it just doesn’t seem right.

PTS is suspended too I think - configurator says to contact dealer.

My guess is new colours coming, retooling for PTS, and some less popular colours being discontinued.

Maybe Porsche ran short of color pigments needed to produce cherry red? Also Tesla is facing some delay in shipping “mignight cheery red“ cars as they call it.

World has gone mad. Can't they just give you whatever the (pretty much exactly the same) red that come on a 911 or Cayenne, albeit with a different name, instead? You'd probably never know.

Sidetrack - but why doesn't porsche just use the same palette across the fleet. Dumb.

I think a lot of these pigments / mica additives originate from Japan as almost being the sole provider.

I remember that after the Fukushima disaster there was a global shortage of several metallic colourings.

Perhaps cherry red (and related) is caught up in some shortage or other.

Either way it is no great loss (sorry) as it looks grim in our climate and not the popping candy colour it should do.

Classic Porsche colour of old - Ruby Red.

Looks better in real life...if you have the stomach for it!

Christophorus magazine 401 showed the Taycan in beautiful Rubystar Red!
Great without black roof.

Shame they spelt colour wrong.

Would have been even better with black callipers and wheels and without the electric badge and the plastic stick-on electric port tags.

PTS is too expensive (for me) and it’s good to protect paint so I am thinking safe (cheaper) colour and Rubystar Red wrap.
