I also have the 21” RS Spyder wheels which look great, I will get them sprayed Satin Black when I have kerbed.

I checked pretty much all of the boxes on my 4S. Unlike many, I don't like glass roofs so I removed that from the premium package.

The only real advice I'd give is when you are spending this much money on a car is "no regrets". It would be unfortunate to get your car and then regret not getting some option.

RAS is great for parking in tight spots. My CT4S feels incredibly nimble at low speeds. Granted I haven’t driven one without RAS but it is very noticeable in tight spots. I haven’t noticed the benefit at speed, but my area is very congested so I rarely get up to sustained highway cruising speeds.

As for sport sound, I find it pretty useless. I specced it because I was worried an EV would be too quiet but it’s actually perfect without sport sound. With the sport sound on, it’s a bit too loud and feel a bit silly driving around with it. I do admit I’ve turned it on a few times when it’s quiet around as it does sound cool in an adolescent way. I wouldn’t pick it though if I could do it again.

I regretted getting the 20” turbo wheels; they don’t look as good as they do in photos. I’d probably go with the CF aero blades instead. Ideally there was something like the Aeroblades in a 20” size.
I totally agree with you about RAS (have it), Sound (Bin it). I went for big wheels (love them), thicker glass and boudoir red leather inside. I also didn’t waste money on the charge port although I fail to shut it after unplugging, get in the car, switch on, car tells me I am a dickhead and then I get out and close it.

The "definites" in your list I agree with are:

Sport Chrono (Makes changing the drive mode so much easier).
Sport Sound (I love it)
Ambient Lighting (Love the look at night)
Electric charging ports (One of THE must have options, IMHO. It's something you will use a lot, and they're so slick when it comes to charging).

As for the other options:

Full leather is a must, IMHO. Makes the interior feel like it matches the price you've paid for the car.

I has the gloss black/silver RS Spyder 21" rims, and they look great. I have them now on my GTS, but obviously in satin black.

Rear Axle Steering is exactly as you imagined. You won't miss it if you've never had it, but I love it on my GTS. I didn't spec it on my previous Taycan RWD.

I don't think Porsche Sport Sound changes anything on the exterior of the car. I believe it's purely about making the sound louder on the interior.

Hi all,

Have a 4S ordered and freeze date is approaching. Have been playing with options and initially was thinking pretty low spec but have got to the mode where am thinking if spending so much, an option I 'want' to have should be ok, as I might regret it later - but then these all add up. I do plan on keeping the car for a considerable amount of time so I guess I also want to make sure I don't compromise on options that I will regret. Cost of these cars (particularly here in Australia) can definitely blow out - noting that for a 4S, our various government taxes and levy's are about $60k AUD - on top of the cost of the car!!!

Interested to hear opinions of others, whether regret for not purchasing, but importantly who have spec'd the below and either so glad they did, or perhaps think they could have done without it....

Definites / Decided:
Sport seats (18 way)
Window trims in gloss
Chrono
Sport Sound
Pano roof
Ambient Lighting
Taycan in black on rear
Elect charge cover

Still to finalise:

Colour - pretty much set on Ice Grey - could save $5k and go Carrara White but likely stick with Ice Grey as I think it's unique and I like it - plus my current car is white

Wheels - Don't love the option for the 20's so will be 21's. At this point, likely the RS Spyder wheels (and thinking in the future may get them painted black). I actually really like the look of the Exclusive Design wheels with the black blades - but think they look awesome from a distance, but a little awkward from close up - also worried about potential scratches with these as the edge of the black blades extends around the edge of the wheel. Interested in any experiences anyone has in this or general thoughts on the above.

Interior - Initially I was going to do the partial leather but on visiting dealer and comparing, I do think the full leather changes the whole interior feel of the car. I do love the Black / Crayon (thinking it may be referred to as something different in other countries but it it the whiter looking leather) but not sure if this may clash with the Ice Grey - not an issue if I was to go with the CWM exterior, but not being able to see this in person is making me nervous. Is there possibly anyone with (or someone who has seen) Ice Grey and the Black / Crayon interior? Interested in thoughts on this. This is an easy way to save over $8k though if I just go for the partial leather in black....

Rear Axle Steering - have seen so so many opinions on this, but it's not a cheap option here at $4,300. Thinking it's something I wont 'miss' if I don't have it in the first place but this is still undecided. Roads here in Sydney whilst pretty crappy from a pothole (and traffic!) point of view are pretty reasonable. Only thinking is it will help in tight shopping centres / driveways etc and help avoid possible wheel scratches.

Thermal & Noise Insulated Glass incl. Privacy - Again in two minds with so many opinions. At this stage leaning towards a no for this but also weighing up the cost of tinting as if the glass is darker and I wont need to tint the back windows and rear, then this may offset the price.

I know many of these come down to personal preference but as the date is fast approaching, interested to hear other people's view / thought process and then satisfaction of decisions post getting their cars.

Thanks!
TL: DR but you are prioritizing a bunch of features that have nothing to do with driving performance over RAS which totally does. I would (and did) pick full leather and RAS over everything else on your list of definites. I have the pano roof and gloss trim as well, from that list but the roof was included in a premium package for US customers. Please rethink your priorities if you are on a budget.

Only sped read the other posts in this thread so not 100% if highlighted - i think that you can only get massage and air blowing seats with the 14 way option, maybe worth a check depending if you wanted ya butt being massaged whilst being blown upon…….. err … I now admit that I specked the 14 way seats for such options ?

I have the 14-way comfort seats with massage and ventilation and it is one of the best options we chose for travelling now we have the car.
The sports sound got switched off on the car I demoed after less than a minute, I hate faux car sounds. I saved a few bob not bothering with it on my car at all.
I have 2 hands which is exactly the number you need to open the charge hatch you are next to and plug the car in, so I saved a few more bob on the electric hatches too. I would recommend them to a unidexter, perhaps.
Colour both outside and inside is very personal. I have had monochrome paintwork for around 20 years (black, silver, white and grey) so wanted a colour for a change.
The money I saved not having a glass roof, which I have disliked on every car I’ve owned with one, and blew it on the sound reducing glass.
I chose a cross Turismo, partly because the extra 20mm of suspension travel is good for our dire local roads and partly since the 21” CT wheels painted Vesuvius grey are by far my favourite Taycan wheels and despite not liking the plastic wheelarch trims (hating them even).
I went for torque vectoring, active anti-roll bars and rear wheel steer because I am a racing car aerodynamicist and chassis dynamics engineer.
I didn’t go for any driver over-rides because I hardly use motorways, they seem popular with those who commute on congested motorways.

I was tempted by deviated stitching but was too tight to pay the extra, same for HUD and night vision, both of which I had on my then current car, not worth the money to me.

The neodyme highlights suits the interior colour I chose exceptionally well IMO, but again very personal - I was totally bored and fed up by black.

In the end I got a car which suited what I want and despite it being unusual am pleased with all of it.

Your car is for you so don’t spec it for anybody else would be my advice ;) I gave no consideration to resale just my own taste.

I have an Ice Grey 4S and I love the colour. It’s white, Silver and Grey in different lighting!

you have it pretty much spot on; I would definitely recommend adding the 3D surround view, Taycan is a long car and the view out of rear is bit restricted. I’m missing it on my car and have been looking for retrofit with no luck.

I would also recommend the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), or even better with Porsche InnoDrive, but if you have spec’ed ACC you can upgrade to InnoDrive through Porsche Function on Demand (FoD) via Over the Air software update.

You can also get the Comfort Access as FOD later on, so no problems if you were to skip it now, but FOD is more expensive than factory option.

One more thing, for a few hundred more, get the Electric Sport Sound. This, if you were to retrofit later, would cost you more than three times as much as factory (in the UK at least). It sounds nice and distracts you from hearing the squeaks coming at very low speeds. Plus it’s a safety feature, if driving in residential areas it could warn pedestrians and children to an otherwise silent car.

Good luck with your order, I’m sure you will love the car.

The Electric Sport Sound has nothing to do with the exterior sound. The Taycan has that as standard as a legal requirement, for obvious safety reasons.

Nobody seems to have mentioned HUD unless I missed it. I only optioned it at last minute but it has turned out to be my most favourite option. My least favourite which I would not option again is the tedious sports sound.

Peter just took delivery of my GTS which has some of the options. I like your list and colour. My comments:
- yes to everything on your core list
- RAS yes, makes the car incredibly manoeuvreable
- Noise Thermal Glass, excluding the front windows, the glass is factory tinted and looks great, as well as being very effective around town. On blue metal type roads at speed you get quite a bit of noise through the chassis which counteracts.
- b-pillars in race Tex a must (especially if your roof liner is also in race Tex)
- the personalised reversable luggage mat for the boot is exquisite
- 21‘ spdyers, mine are in black, superb
- my wife is completely obsessed with the passenger display
- accent package in dark silver looks a treat

Happy to field any other questions / post photos.

I have a dolomite silver with the chalk/black full leather (I think same as your Black/Crayon) and it looks amazing. I think the ice grey would look just as good if not better with the chalk/black. Also very glad I got the thermally and noise insulated glass here in central Texas, you may feel similarly over there in Australia. All the options are nice to have, but I use the sport Chrono every time I get in the car and really makes the experience more fun. Good luck.

I would definitely recommend adding the 3D surround view
Is there a particular reason you recommend the 3D surround view, as opposed to the ordinary 360° surround view? I ask because I specifically went to the dealer to check this, and the car they had on the lot with Remote Parking Assist (which brings 3D view, according to the configurator) eliminates the ability to see a "sandwich view" - the view from the left and right side cameras displayed side-by-side with the car elided in the middle, because the UI icon that selects this view is replaced by the parking assistance feature.

I personally think the 3D view is a solution in search of a problem, and went so far as to drop Remote Park Assist from my build, because I consider the "sandwich view" much more valuable. If the addition of the 3D view did not disable the direct side view, I probably would have kept RPA, if only because I wanted the rear cross-traffic alert that is supposedly unavailable without it.

If this is the case then I stand corrected. I wasn't aware it was any louder on the outside with Porsche Electronic Sport Sound.

Absolutely. The 3D loses the ability to see the rims clearly, so it's why I only went with 360 degree view.
