I just asked a salesperson at my local dealer and they said production on the Taycan has stopped for the remainder of the year. That seems contrary to statements I have seen on this forum about production ramping up. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks
I can hardly imagine that.
I have a Sept production date with MY21.
What he might have meant or misunderstood is that his dealership has booked all his allocation for this year. Or that there is no allocation for the US anymore this year? After all, you were the first ones to get your hands on the Taycan.

As for the original topic:
I heard the summer holiday shutdown is in August, but I don’t know exactly when and for how long. School holidays here in Baden-Württemberg start on July 27th. So it‘s some time after that.

I certainly hope that's not true as my '20 Taycan Turbo entered the body shop on 6/26 and is due out of the factory by 7/10. I can believe that they've stopped taking MY2020 orders, but from what I've been reading it seems that they'll be building 2020 cars for at least another month, and some have suggested that for some markets they might be building 2020 cars even longer. And I've seen no indication elsewhere that Porsche is slowing down Taycan production.

My theory of what your salesperson is thinking: it's possible that they've been told that they don't have any more MY2020 allocations, and the order books aren't yet open for MY2021.

Perhaps on new orders? I received a call from my dealer here in NY that my car just went into production and should be in the US in September. I ordered way back in February, however.

I have the same date in and date out on my order. It’s a 2020 year...sad. Dealer initially said it would be 2021, but he was mistaken. Still a 2020, but still glad to be getting it with their factory shutdown.

My expected V260 (vehicle entry to body shop) date is July 31 and my expected V270 date (vehicle exit production) date is September 4. Based on this timing, I guess that the car may actually be built in the week of August 31. If so, would that not be after the factory's summer shut-down? Would that make the car automatically a 2021 model year? Thanks for any insights in this matter.
Update: I meanwhile got confirmation from my dealer on Monday who stated that 1) the expected dates for my car are still the same, 2) it will be a 2020 model year, and 3) all Taycans to be produced in the course of 2020 will be 2020 model year. I do not know whether the latter would only be true (if so) for US-bound Taycans. Maybe it is true for all Taycans expected to be delivered to the US in 2020?

Does anyone in the US have a post-August build slot? I'd think anything built in Sep and later will be 2021. Likely any allocation for the US wont start building soon enough to get here by Dec 31st, to dodge the 2020 vs 2021 arguments.

I am not seeing the new model year on the online configuration tool, did you order directly through the dealer? Perhaps I should call a dealer. (Though I would like to see the Turismo)

Yes, directly with my dealer. The configurator hasn't been updated yet to reflect the 2021 model year.

Any car that’s build after the 1st of September is a MY2021 Dealer confirmed my order is a MY2021 delivery start of December build slot start of November. Apparently it take 4 weeks from factory build to delivery here in the uk.

I haven't heard this...

My earliest Taycan Turbo S MY21' will be entering into production (V260) next month on October 23rd, with an estimated dealer arrival around January 1st 2021.

Maybe he means you won't be seeing any MY21' Taycan before the end of the year (in the US) - which I expect to be the case. There will be more MY20' Taycan coming in before the end of the year, but not many more.

My dealership currently has 3 available Taycan, and only 5 more available cars coming in before the end of the year.

They just "hired" Audi personnel to assist with the Taycan production...

Dealers talk so much shit these days, they know nothing.
