I test drove with and without and ended up speccing it. Many people get it since it can improve the ride in a straight line when it fully disengages both axles. I got it because I could feel (although maybe placebo) the car adjusting the stiffness of each axle to reign in under / oversteer. I think you will only feel any difference if you are fully on it.
It’s the ability to disengage fully and function variably that makes PDCC worth it in my view. It provides the absolute widest variability between absolute comfort and keen sportiness. The air suspension is already very good but adding PDCC takes it to another level….regardless of whether or not you are pushing it to the limit.

Some may not value this but this kind of thing is what makes a Porsche worth it to me.

Yeah maybe, but it makes me feel good and I would make the same choice again. I’m convinced both the front and back end are better with it.
One of the racing drivers I know who did some development driving of the prototypes was surprised when I told him I probably wouldn’t spec it and when Bose and racetex B pillar were flagged as delays I dropped them and ticked PDCC instead. I’ll never know if I would tell the difference cornering but the better ride should be noticeable around here.

GTS variant has its own suspension tune compared to the RWD, 4, 4s (not sure about turbo/turbo s). I didn't get PDCC on my GTS because it has its own tuned suspension and its lovely on twists and turns.
Good to now thanks. Certainly the 3 test drives I had of a GTS impressed me so much I didn't want PDCC as none the the cars had it.

Solid insight, ty.

Just saved me £2500! I never got to test pdcc or not at my PEC driving day.

Lack of available cars...

Same here. I felt that 3,300 euros could be better spent. All 3 GTS demo cars had RWS so this was a must have for me.

I didn’t spec it on my Turbo ST. I talked through the options with the dealer and he said, if I was taking it to track days then sure, I’d appreciate it but as my daily driver, I’m not going to notice it.

I’ve just had my Porsche experience day and the instructor said the same thing.

At the end of the day, if you have budget left and there’s nothing else you’d rather have then spec it. I’ve had the variable light control roof and passenger display (neither of which are necessary) but not the PDCC or carbon ceramic brakes (equally unnecessary unless on the track) so it’s just about what floats your boat really

There’s this sinking feeling I’m starting to have that the Taycan might be great to drive even with zero options ticked…
I don't normally drive my wife's Tesla (Model S) but I was today and thought that an optionless CT4 would be around the same price and undoubtedly much better.

I have PDCC on my Cayenne E Hybrid, and spec'd it on my CT 4S build (chose the Performance Package in the US). Comfort with it and Air suspension is amazing in the Cayenne, and it hides the weight of the hybrid system really well in corners. With how heavy the Taycan is, I figured it was a no brainer to option it on as well.

I was able to compare two similar 911s, one with PDCC and one without. The PDCC car was noticeably better in straight line ride quality and had zero body roll, the latter issue so significant that it actually took some time for me to get used to it. The car didn’t do the ‘roll slightly and load up’ like I was used to, so it felt weird until I recalibrated my brain to it.

I went PDCC on the 911 and did again on the Taycan.

If OP is looking for value for performance, I would suggest saving the money from PDCC and putting it towards a stickier set of tires like PS4S or the like. That would have a significantly more noticeable effect when driving aggressively at the limit.

Body roll on a non-PDCC is not a lot to begin with due to the low CG so the benefit of decoupling roll and ride rates is going to be less than say on a Cayenne or Panamera. Having said that, if you can afford it, you will definitely be happier spec’ing it. Just don’t forget to upgrade tires too.

My avatar is a mid corner shot around 1.0g lateral accel, and below about 1.2g, without PDCC for reference.

Of course it is. It’s a good car. Just don’t test drive one with the options you don’t have because you will want them.

After my experience the last two days with a different optioned loaner: I would have been fine without HUD, insulting glass and RWS. However they all do have a noticeable effect on driving and comfort and still happy I have them.

I think the online configurator is a really good commercial product.

We are all sitting behind our computers for months, reading this forum, large FOMO effect, too much time to reconsider and change because of long production delays. And at the end selecting all possibly interesting options because the car was expensive anyway. Except some smart guys setting a budget and not going higher whatever happens (possibly the benificial effect of their wife’s looking over their shoulder).

I spec’d my CT4 with a budget and my wife looking over my shoulder. But if I had to do it again I would just tick all the boxes. What is a budget at this point anyways but an imaginary number?

That is exactly my point. It’s expensive anyway. I presume most people buying a Taycan will have a comfortable financial situation and have more FOMO than missing a couple of K extra on their bank accounts.

Interesting point(s) @McgR and @bsclywilly. I've had one new car in my life, my 981 Cayman S (two for my wife). When I ordered the Cayman I was very careful to keep it under budget and avoided (almost) every luxury item and included (mostly) only performance items like sports suspension and seats and I never regretted it. I just tried that philosophy with the Taycan build and easily trimmed over $7k off the bottom line. There's another $5-7k that could be trimmed but a combination of FOMO and the devil on my right shoulder whispering that I *should* have sports chrono, ACC, night vision and insulated glass won't let me (yet).
