It is hit or miss.

On any given day, one of three things is about equally likely to happen:
  • PCM never fully boots the UI (sits on a spinning circle)
  • Bluetooth/WiFi turns on, but only after about 5-10m of driving
  • The aforementioned "Activate" screen keeps popping up, and Bluetooth/WiFi never works
The PCM may be giving you these messages if it is unable to establish a good data connection to the server. This could be caused by your location, and when you leave the area and enter a region with good cellular coverage (perhaps that 5-10m of driving you mentioned) the problem resolves itself.

That said, if you get this same PCM booting issue all the time, and at any location, then I recommend getting the dealer involved. Something doesn't seem right.

12v battery disconnect, anyone?

Will force a hard reboot and can be effective in some scenarios.

I have all these issues and it seems to be progressively getting worse. When I first got my car I didn’t have this spinning circle. I think it started early this year.

Now I just found out my Apple Music and Spotify stopped working altogether. It keeps showing the popup with Login currently not possible. Doesn’t matter where I am, with strong cellular reception.

Did you find a solution? Did you bring the car in to the dealership?

Good news/bad news.

Good news: the situation is now mostly resolved for me. I now get Android Auto / the car's LTE connection to become available within ~30s or so about 95% of the time.

Bad news: I did have to bring the car to the dealer, and they had to replace the PCM. They first tried to just do the "engineering reset" trick and then hand it back. On their test drive though the issue repro'd right away, so I think I got lucky there. You may have to press them to test multiple times. According to my (warranty covered) invoice, the part number was PJ1-035-092-CX - CENTRAL COMPUTER. Took a few weeks to diagnose and get the part.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update. I wish I didn't have to do the same but at this point I'll just have to bring it in for diagnosis. It's really starting to get annoying.

And here I thought fighting with the radio was behind me.

A day or so ago, Music and Pocast icons both greyed out, and now neither will launch throwing this error.

I had to open a ticket with Porsce on this. Sigh.

I've spent more time just trying to make the radio play music on these Taycans...

I've just been hit with the same "data package error".

I do not understand why Porsche is so consistently horrible with this. It's utterly infuriating.

I had "data package error" occur when online radio would not work (globe symbol grayed out). A day or so later no LTE/datacomm at all. Recovered on its own a couple days later.
