I’m not sure it’s who you are or even If you come in a chauffeur driven Rolls!

Ultimately, the dealers have the power to put you in the list up or down and they will probably only move people they know who have ordered from them before Or people they are friends with. I am therefore not convinced that name dropping someone in Porsche would work unless it’s someone who has influence on how many cars that dealer gets or someone high up in that company..

For example, if you want a GT3 you would probably need to be a special customer who has bought 10 cars from them to even go on the list. You can buy one new at £140k but you can sell them for £250k. If not you would get laughed out. Dealers get like 1 a year maybe of these cars.

Remember, all car companies have this issue and some are a lot worse (even Audi)…. It’s just about patience even though you just want to get it now!

Good luck though hopefully you get a slot soon!
This is a concern of mine to be honest. I was told I was first in the queue a few months back around Q1 of 2022 after putting the deposit down in Nov21.

Have now been told that there'll be no Turbo Ss delivered to the dealership this year and it'll be in to 2023 before I see mine.

I'd love to know if there's a way to find out from Porsche what the allocation of cars has been to a dealership.

I remain unconvinced that there might not have been at least some shenanigans going on.

Maybe you should call in and give a false name and ask them about how many they had and expect? Which dealer is it ?

The issue is, i need an estate for the dog. the i4 doesnt work for my needs. The iX is repulsive. The Audi' e-tron GT lovely but boot issue. The Lotus Eletre looks interesting but much prefer the Taycan.
Ioniq 5? I'm looking at test driving that later this week. Though I'm not a fan of SUVs, it looks awesome.

I will likely decide between that and the I4, stock willing of course...

That's savage investigation work, but agree. Would be interesting to see what they say.

Glasgow.

Back in September during first visit, there was no one in the queue apparently.

At deposit in Nov, we were told there was now one.

Come March we were first again. I don't know whether that was due to an order having been fufilled or that "customer" having pulled out.

I can't believe they didn't get at least 1 allocated in the entire 2022 calendar...but maybe its true.

If it makes you feel even slightly better, I ordered my CT4S (which likely has much higher allocation than yours) from Glasgow in November.... and I'm still waiting for my car.

Amongst the various dealers and brands I've ever worked with, I've found Glasgow to be upfront and honest....

That's good to hear.

It might just be that all the delays / Ukraine / 12v batteries and general World issues are causing it.

I'll explain my situaton in the next post...

I've moaned about it on a few threads now but the entire process has been disappointing.

Turned out the first salesman was a friend of a friend. We knew he was leaving the business pretty soon after our first meeting with him...not due to him or Porsche telling us...it was our friends who mentioned they knew he'd left at a certain point

I had to chase things up knowing he was away and spoke to the used car salesperson a couple of times as he was taking on the role of point of contact temporarily . There was no further information over the first couple of months in 2022.

I chased things up again and we were given a new contact name (2nd new car sales rep we'd had, 3rd person overall in a few months) who confirmed no movement on the order. Even then, the calls didn't inspire confidence though...

"Yeah, you're ordering the Turbo *papers rustling*...is that right? There's no news yet."

"Actually it's the Turbo S I'm after"

"oh, that's right, yes. No, we don't have any dates yet"

You'd have thought he'd at least look at the paper work before calling. Anyway...

In the meantime, my wife had dealt with the finance side of things and got a call asking for information which was strange as they had it all. Seemingly Porsche changed to or from (can't remember which) VW finance and it flagged an issue. They were asking who we'd spoken to beore in the finance team. My understanding is there's only two of them so if it wasn't the guy who'd phoned my wife, it must've been the other one. It really didn't look like they knew what was going on.

My wife and I still question whether the order had formally been put in their system (deposit paid in November21 initially) at this point but we've got no way of proving it.

Spoke to the 2nd rep on the phone again around this time and he said he'd chase things up and check the finance had been confirmed when the person dealing with that returned from holiday in the next week and that we should make an appointment to confirm the final build spec after that.

I emailed a week later to get confirmation he'd spoken to the finance team and got a message saying he was out of office. Turned out that 2nd sales rep had left the business too. He'd only been there a matter of weeks all in.

We were given a third name who is now our current point of contact.

When we went in for that 2nd visit to confirm a couple of options, it was the finance fella who took our meeting as the 3rd sales rep guy was held up with another customer. Finance chap was great. Knew his stuff and gave us a bit of confidence things were in hand and he had sorted out the internal issued they'd had with the finance too.

Since then, the 3rd rep has at least been true to his word of phoning a couple of times with an update even if it's just to say there's no good news.

I'm not completely convinced we're next in line at all though and have been since early 2022 . If we are, it's truly unfortunate that Glasgow hasn't been given even the slightest hint of a Turbo S in the space of what will be longer than a full year if the story about the 2022 allocations being confirmed is true.

I suppose, at least. Alistair's post above gives a degree of hope. Would hate to see the other dealers if this one has been one of the better ones though.

I think i know which sales person you are referring to who left.............
I've been into Porsche Glasgow several times as a potential customer. Before i bought the RS4, I very nearly bought a Macan GTS. There was more focus on the add on finance products than the cars itself and I was being pressured into taking GAP etc. I ended up walking.
I was in very recently with my sons and again was less than impressed with the levels of knowledge or service.

The 1st or the 2nd one?

First had been a mechanic who moved to sales.

Second came from another car manufacturer and was only there for a very short period.

This is terrible stuff and not what you would expect from a luxury brand.

Is glasgow part of the Sytner group ?

I would perhaps call or go in and ask to speak to the sales manager to get some reassurances on when the order was in - maybe say you don’t have the date it was submitted to hand and let them tell you when it was put in and see if this matches the deposit date!

Tell them it’s top of the range car and perhaps see what they say on dates and what they can do to make it right ?

just keep an eye on here as to what cars have been delivered from which dealership - that would be a start! It’s certainly what I’m doing.

I started out by working with the General Sales Manager (who responded to my email enquiry) and he's helped direct since then - he connected me with a sales guy who's been honestly great.

Yeah, there's been a bit of a push for finance products with me too - but that's been typical with every dealer.

I did, however, have a receipt for my deposit within minutes of me paying it, as well as a signed order form.

Despite the fact that I'm not buying a super high end car (like the Turbo S) I've been made to feel like a valued customer. I'm sorry that your experience @DynamoCappo hasn't been the same.

PM me if you like, and I'll share the GM's email details - maybe reach out to him?
