Hi everyone.
I’m about to change my fantastic 991.2 C2 for a Taycan 4s battery plus.
To be honest it’s a hard step, I’m thinking every moment if I’m doing the proper choice..

btw the big need is that I have to perform 3 times month home-work-home and it takes 200miles of highway for both trips.

The range will be enough or I have to consider at least one stop on the way back?

I understand your question as 200 miles round-trip (total).

Likely fine, but it depends somewhat on ambient temperature and how fast you drive.

You’ll have less range when it’s cold, but you can still make 200 with the plus battery if you aren’t driving 80-90 mph.

Even in the summer, you may not make 200 miles if driving very fast continuously.

I don’t think I’d be buying a Taycan if one of my primary uses was a 200+ mile drive three times a week. I might wait a few years to see if range improves.

You should be fine ….the battery estimates are very conservative, and even if you were operating at 80% efficiency on performance battery u should still be fine. Not that anyone buys 100+k cars for gas savings BUT there should be a significant gas savings to boot ?

i have a 4s with battery plus. In Chicagoland, haven’t done a winter yet, and summer was relatively mild. Did 5 250 plus mile days and and didn’t sweat it. Around 35-40+ miles left when I got home, charged it and was good to go.

I think you'll be fine - but it also helps if you "give up" the mentality of filling the battery when all you need is a few extra miles (should that be the case) - if your battery SOC is low- you can actually get 50-100 miles range in like 10 min or less…when the battery is below 50% it charges really really reallly fast - and only starts to slow down above like 65% (and even then is still super fast)

a quick 5-10 min stop and you get an extra 50-75 miles - and that can make all the difference - not every fast charging stop has to get you back to 80-90% - some times all you need a small boost and that can be done really really quickly at a fast charger…

I've done Boston-Chatham, MA round trips several times this year - about 92 miles each way - and I get home with 30-40% SOC depending on weather and how fast I drive. There are a couple of EA chargers along the way, but I've learned not to bother stopping. In my worst case plan, I would make a 20 minute stop to charge up but it just doesn't seem to be needed.

I forgot few infos:
  • The car has 21”
  • During my three trips, the car stay at the aiport 5-7days max “home - work, 5-7 days stops, work - home”.
No problem for 75mph, I normally don’t drive fast with 911.

You’ll be fine. Just chill a tad with the cruising speed like everyone said. Remembering the next morning is one of those 3 days per month by charging the battery to full is going to be the hard part :)

Switching from a 911 to a Taycan is a lot harder to answer, probably why no one has tried!
The two cars are very different, one a sports car and the other a GT.
Personally I would give the Tacan a go, if after a year it’s not for you buy another 911!

It has been discussed on the forum here quite a bit. Maybe you can get some background there. Having never owned a 911, I can't comment.
