.. if I were you, for $130k you can probably get a low mileage 4S which has AWD :)

Long story short… I upped my budget from $115k-$140k. My RWD freeze date is in 2 days. My dealer has a GTS on the lot available (over budget but doable). Obviously, it’s my money, my choice and 1/2 will say stick with RWD and 1/2 will say GTS but my question is, is it possible to over-spec a RWD. I basically optioned every option I wanted and was practical. Theoretically, I would like to keep it and add a 911 to the stable when this is paid off so resale/trade-in value isn’t pertinent… BUT I’ve never kept a car the full length of the loan except of a Jeep Wrangler that became a fun vehicle.

As always, its your money and different people value different stuff. But, you have over $12,000 of purely cosmetic stuff that does nothing for performance. You might consider the 4S with all the performance goodies. The performance boost over RWD is substantial.

Obviously, do what makes you happy. If your interested in opinions, it’s way to much for a RWD….

I'm staying out of the RWD vs GTS matter.
Looking at your code, some things to consider:
Summer tires are standard. If you want all-season tires you must option them.
In wheel accessories, consider wheel center caps with colored Porsche Crest
also, consider locking wheel bolts
Consider getting the 2+1 rear seats. Adds a narrow center seat, but replaces a plastic tray dividing rear seats with complete cushioning side to side. Makes rear seating more functional in my opinion.

I did what you would call over-spec’ng a RWD at $135k and I got the same responses - get a 4S instead, too many cosmetic upgrades, etc. The 4S argument didn’t hold for me, spec’ng a 4S exactly as I wanted would’ve put me at $150k, and under spec’ng my RWD without the supposedly “unnecessary” cosmetic upgrades would’ve made for a cheaper but in my opinion too expensive of a car for something that isn’t what I want. I wouldn’t want to spend $100k on a car that I don’t love. Those cosmetic upgrades were important to me, and I added a couple of performance upgrades too (bigger battery, air suspension, rear axel steering). If your build is exactly what you want, then don’t worry about it being “overpriced” for the model. Especially since you don’t plan to sell. As I was also told, there’s a buyer for everything anyway. I would stick with it over a more expensive GTS that isn’t built to your liking.

I think you hit the nail on the head for my situation. I did take some of the suggestions here and whittled it down to $128k. Got rid of most of the exterior plastic, HUD, and a few other things. Just like you said, a 4S is attainable at my price range but without most of the interior upgrades which is what I (and any passenger) see every day. I test drove a 4S and Turbo S (only because it was the only one on the lot with the insulated glass) and they are amazing but the extra speed is somewhat of a “party trick” for a daily driver. The GTS was $165K which I would strongly consider if it was one of the colors I wanted but it was basic white which isn’t on my list.

Having owned a highly specced RWD and now a GTS - get the GTS.

If you do get the RWD only load it that heavily if you don't plan to sell it. Ever.
I’ll use it as motivation to pay it off and order a 911… or gently used Lambo. ?

How did you find that insulated glass to be vs. without it? I thought about it but ultimately passed

I don’t have a great comparison because my first test drive was in August but the test the other day with the glass was very quiet. There is still some road noise but I’m guessing that comes through the chassis instead of the windows. I tried to make note of cars passing and there was very little to no noise. I also like the security aspect of it, not that I live in a high crime area or worry about getting jacked but it’s a nice addition.

Yes it is a lot of money, but if you order a car from 100$k+ it should exactly be as you want it to be right? And if these are the options you want, go for it!

If it was my money, of course I would make different choices, but that is exactly why everyone on this forum has a different car right?

Definitely not over specced in my view - it’s such a great car and is fast - I would add PSCB though if you can :) I do think the RWD is under celebrated!

Also unless you are doing a lot of highway or long distance driving then adaptive cruise control is also not necessary.
Agreed with everything in your post but this. I wavered on ACC but ultimately got it and I’m so glad I did. It works so well, way better than in my other cars. It’s fantastic in stop and go traffic or country roads with traffic.

Specs? Yes. Color? No. Not even close. It’s white… not even Carrera. ?
For about $5k you could wrap it any color you want. And then when you go to sell it, just peel it off and you’ll have a car with perfect paint to sell, in a color that’s easy to sell.

I cannot imagine being much happier with anything other than my RWD. Of all options the one I think adds the most value (to me anyway) is RAS. I also got the premium package, PB+, full leather, logo emblazoned on front seats, color crest in wheels, and a custom color. Try to balance cosmetics with performance upgrades. My cost ended up around $114K.
