Long story short… I upped my budget from $115k-$140k. My RWD freeze date is in 2 days. My dealer has a GTS on the lot available (over budget but doable). Obviously, it’s my money, my choice and 1/2 will say stick with RWD and 1/2 will say GTS but my question is, is it possible to over-spec a RWD. I basically optioned every option I wanted and was practical. Theoretically, I would like to keep it and add a 911 to the stable when this is paid off so resale/trade-in value isn’t pertinent… BUT I’ve never kept a car the full length of the loan except of a Jeep Wrangler that became a fun vehicle.

Obviously, do what makes you happy. If your interested in opinions, it’s way to much for a RWD….Long story short… I upped my budget from $115k-$140k. My RWD freeze date is in 2 days. I think you hit the nail on the head for my situation. I did take some of the suggestions here and whittled it down to $128k. Got rid of most of the exterior plastic, HUD, and a few other things. Just like you said, a 4S is attainable at my price range but without most of the interior upgrades which is what I (and any passenger) see every day. I test drove a 4S and Turbo S (only because it was the only one on the lot with the insulated glass) and they are amazing but the extra speed is somewhat of a “party trick” for a daily driver. The GTS was $165K which I would strongly consider if it was one of the colors I wanted but it was basic white which isn’t on my list.I did what you would call over-spec’ng a RWD at $135k and I got the same responses…
I’ll use it as motivation to pay it off and order a 911… or gently used Lambo. ?Having owned a highly specced RWD and now a GTS - get the GTS.
If you do get the RWD only load it that heavily if you don't plan to sell it. Ever.
How did you find that insulated glass to be vs. without it? I thought about it but ultimately passedI think you hit the nail on the head for my situation. I don’t have a great comparison because my first test drive was in August but the test the other day with the glass was very quiet. There is still some road noise but I’m guessing that comes through the chassis instead of the windows. I tried to make note of cars passing and there was very little to no noise. I also like the security aspect of it, not that I live in a high crime area or worry about getting jacked but it’s a nice addition. How did you find that insulated glass to be vs. without it? Definitely not over specced in my view - it’s such a great car and is fast - I would add PSCB though if you canLong story short… I upped my budget from $115k-$140k. My RWD freeze date is in 2 days. Agreed with everything in your post but this. I wavered on ACC but ultimately got it and I’m so glad I did. It works so well, way better than in my other cars. It’s fantastic in stop and go traffic or country roads with traffic. Also unless you are doing a lot of highway or long distance driving then adaptive cruise control is also not necessary.
For about $5k you could wrap it any color you want. And then when you go to sell it, just peel it off and you’ll have a car with perfect paint to sell, in a color that’s easy to sell.Specs? Yes. Color? No. Not even close. It’s white… not even Carrera. ?
