when Chevy did this to me with my Bolt I used california's lemon law to force them to buy me out - product at only 80% capacity does not meet the original product specifications and there is no timely recourse - also being forced to park the product outside because it's unsafe does not work for me - I purchased the product to park in my garage since there is no practical parking

not the product I purchased or that you promised - you get to give me a full refund - simple.

Going to make sure to park as close to Porsche Haus as I can at Petit, with a sticker that says "Fully Charged" ?

Thank God. I am about at the end of my thread with the process for the APB5 recall.
You might not be able to relax quite yet. If I read the recalls correctly ARB6 & ARB7 will install monitoring software, on 27,000 cars, to more closely monitor the battery modules. That sort of implies that a module with a potential short circuit could pop up at any time in the future. Ticking time bombs anyone?

yes i don’t think I would sit around if I was impacted. But not sure lemon laws work after the first couple years.. I am not really able to charge from my house outdoors and 80% would make it tough. This looks like a long slog made longer and so far in my experience Porsche doesn’t do wonderful at communicating.

hoping I avoid it, and trying not to worry that my avoidance to date just means they are incompetent in determining who is impacted or slow to tell everyone for some selfish reason.

I totally agree with your interpretation. I don't know if anyone knows the extent of this issue. It is the same fix that Porsche used to deal with the heater - wait until it fails, then replace. There was no mystery that most if not all would eventually fail. Once the software is installed, it will be an early warning system, but a ticking time bomb for sure.

Yes, it is weird they aren’t putting that on all Taycans.

One of the links noted cars after a date in 2024 has mitigation done to prevent the defect at the factory.,,

They arent talking about putting new monitoring software in your car. The car already sends diagnostic data to Porsche…toggle through your vehicle settings and you can see that you can disable this “feature” (because not everyone wants their car sending automatic diagnostic reporting to Porsche…myself included)

The fact that some people disable this is why Porsche has the specific language in the recall announcement that they will notify people whose cars are flagged by the remote diagnostics but will have to inspect other vehicles manually

I think the 27,527 Car and Driver is mentioning are all Taycans sold in the US so the total number of cars affected will be much higher

Can you elaborate on this? PM is ok if preferred. Wondering how old car was at the time and if you retained an attorney etc.

Personally, like the car, pissed off at the number of recalls and time wasted driving back and forth, and now I have a car that may burn down my house, and can't be used as intended.

The dealer shared with me the campaigns on my car, it is there now getting 3 more done, but they are saying they can't pull the battery as they don't have the crate to ship it, and it won't be there for a month!?

Anyway, its now had 14 campaigns done, several of these recalls... in 2 years. WTF Porsche?

Practically speaking, this battery issue does not really impact me for the following reasons:
  1. I don't park my Taycan in my garage, ever
  2. I don't charge to more than 85% and don't road trip the car
  3. Like putting the miles on a loaner instead of my car. Permits me stay within the lease allowance comfortably
  4. Saving a fortune on car washes

On a positive note, I visited my dealer yesterday and they have the brake line hoses in stock for that recall.

If it is all, they have a weird way of counting VINs mine doesn’t fit within the new numbers, although it did fit within ARB4 but I never got notified and every time I asked I was told it doesn’t effect me and they have no idea what I am talking about.

You can call your dealer and ask them to send you a print out of the open and completed campaigns on your car to confirm.

Mine had 16 line items in it.

It's the number from the NHTSA recall.
Which matches up with all Taycans sold in the U.S. through the 2024 model year.
Which means all Taycan sold worldwide have the same potential problem.
