Too small for an adult for sure. Doable for short journey with a spare kid i guess.
Maybe for very short journeys but my other problem is where do they put their feet? Constantly kicking the a/c controls would do my head in! I guess mine are getting bigger (9 and 11), so I can’t see them fitting at all in that middle seat and not for a few years prior either. Quite a small window of usage imo

The problem is that that middle seat is so tiny it's totally pointless.
It looks it because the side seats are quite wide. I have taken 3 adults in the back of mine several times no problem. It isn’t a comfortable solution for a long journey but quite doable popping to a local restaurant, for example.

The +1 seat option was the second best interior option we got (after massage seats) and I wouldn’t consider a car without personally.

I don't think it's possible to run 3 car seats in the rear. I have two forward facing Diono's, which are on the slimmer side. There's barely any room left in the middle.

Exactly this. We always used to go in the back of my Mum's hatch back car even when nothing on the back seat. No idea why, maybe just a bad parent!!

1984, I was 6 and was riding in the back of this beautiful ? ancestor to the CT.

We were on our way to Mt Rushmore and my Mum (not smoking or drinking) was driving when she hit a deer. I flew from the rear of the car and landed (upside down) on the floor in between the legs of her friend in the shotgun seat. The soda I was drinking landed on the dashboard and spilled down the air vents. Nobody was hurt, except the deer of course. The car was repaired and every time they turned the air on it smelled like Mountain Dew.

I watched the install video of the multimac and it doesn't look like it should matter whether it is a 4 or 5 seat configuration as long as there are 2 tether points to attach the device. But that's just my perception, I'll ask multimac directly.
While I suspect that it is indeed feasible, Multimac will definitely not want to give you any comfort around that particular install, since they likely have not tested it. (Or worse yet, the device did not pass in that installation.) They have a specific set of test cases and went to the trouble of very specifically noting the three seat configuration. They will not want to risk a lawsuit in the event something goes wrong in the untested/failed configuration.

Travel car seats works fine for squeezing 3 across. We fit 2 kids with a mifold and pico and an adult back there with no problem. (also regularly utilize PP Viaggio Flex or Diono radian + Mifold/Pico + adult with no issues.) Leg room is scarce but width of the rear seat is more than a lot of people perceive it to be.

I have the 2+1 seat configuration but this is how I would theoretically do it if I had the 2 seat set-up:

1- Put Pico in the middle, and connect the flexible Latches to the inner isofix anchors on both sides (helps you get around the lack of a seat belt in the middle)
2- Put Mifold/or other car seat on one side & secure with the seat belt.
3- Put the infant car seat on the other side, secure with seat belt

Fun fact: Taycan is one of the widest sedans ever manufactured. (hard to believe but Taycan is wider than an Audi A8 or Mercedes S class).

I have enough issues with 2 boosters back there. If not straight up impossible, I'd venture to say any solution you do find is going to be very challenging to actually live with.

My back hurts when I think about trying to get 3 small kids into the rear seats of a Taycan….

I used three Diono Radian RXT in my E90 M3 and two of them with an Uppababy carrier. It was tight, but it worked. There is no latch iso points for the middle seats and a seat belt has to be used in any of the cars I have put three seats in. For a better fit, I removed the outer side bolsters of the vehicle seat so the car seats wouldn’t put pushed into an angle fit. The trick is to install the middle seat first and then the other two will fit tight against that.

I have a forward facing Britax and a booster. It’s a really tight fit just to reach into the middle to grab something from the car seat side. I can’t imagine how you could possibly squeeze in to strap your child into the middle rear seat even if you managed to install the seat! Especially if it’s going to be rear facing.

With 2+1 in a Macan, someone was able to fit 3 rear facing seats. If the Taycan is similar, perhaps some thinner seats would also work?

Hi all,

I searched the forum looking for this topic but I couldn't find it in its entirety. Is it possible to fit 3 car seats (twin toddlers + 1 infant) across in the 2 backseat taycan configuration? I'm looking for a used taycan turbo or turbo s and I often find the 2 backseat configuration and not the 2+1. We have a SUV that will be used to primarily transport the kids but I need the ability to have the whole family in the car from time to time.

Thanks,
Unless you will have no one in the passenger front - backwards facing is not happening. This is why I dumped Jag F-Pace and went for XC90. Taycan is smaller inside than F-Pace. BMW X3 has more room than Taycan. For 3 kids, you need a proper vehicle. Taycan ain't it.

Yea, I test drove a couple Turbo's this weekend and sat in the back. Very tight and impractical for a young family of 5 (not impossible but just not practical if I have to transport the kids somewhere). They should've shrank the trunk to give more space for the back seat. But I test drove a Lucid Air Touring and that seems to be the best of both world's (battery tech + back seat space)...wish they still were selling the GT Performance. I may still say F it and go with Taycan...to earlier posters points: our parents did alot more with a lot less.
