Hello,
Not sure it will be available in the US but this has just been released in Europe: A Crest key ring with blue stiching that hides a RFID chip.
Once received, you'll have to associate it with your Porsche charging service account, as a substitute to the traditional card.

That's slightly more useful than a key ring. Love it. Hate the price though.

Great idea - I agree with TaycanCook about the price - obviously has PAT applied (Porsche Added Tax).

If they can enable this maybe we could have in our iPhone wallet o use via Apple Pay (or alternatives)?

I tried to get one via the local dealer this morning, he was unaware such thing existed, he further looked into it, however he said, he could order for me but has no idea when they would receive it, could be looking at mid November, ended up ordering from the Porsche website, showing 5-7 day delivery from Germany, seems like a very new gadget.

This is so when someone steals your keys from a handbag or pocket they get the car AND free charging? :)

(I know some on here disagree but I wish Porsche would add an optional PIN-to-drive as on every Tesla. Simple four digits prevent key theft from becoming car theft.)

The plug and charge facility means that if your car is stolen they don't even need a fob or card though...

Well, you could
- open (unstitch) the existing leather keyring, open the pouch
- cut the existing charge card and trim the RFID circuit piece
- place the RFID piece inside the leather pouch
- stitch back the leather pouch

Should be an interesting DIY project.... and you can even use a different colour thread for the leather pouch stitching to match your car exterior colour !

There is an optional pin function. Never tried to use it though.

My understanding is that the current PIN functionality only protects the privacy of your profile (data privacy being quite a big thing in Germany) and does not protect the car from being driven.

By contrast, you cannot start a Tesla without, as security people say, "something you have" (key or phone) AND "something you know" (PIN). They switched this on by default a few years ago globally as a protection against key relay theft. Owners can of course opt out.

Hmmm maybe something to ask for instead of the normal gash freebies like mug, pen etc that some dealers try to sweeten when something has gone wrong or delayed….

If only it were that simple. It took me 12 tries and reading through 3 different forum threads to get “plug and charge” to work at an Electrify America charger.
