What is up with that potato they call back up cam. It is extremely warped and basically unusable. Everything else about the car is awesome (aside from my squeaky drivers seat that is getting fixed) but the potato cam is so warped I can barely use it to park my car. The problem I have with that is the Audi and Porsche shares the same electric platform and yet the camera in my Etron is not trash. It is extremely usable. Audi is less expensive but has a better surround view and better camera. Literally just take the Audi tech and adapt it to Porsche, they already share so many other things. It is really annoying every time I have to back in park. Everyone talks about charging or software update but the that camera is not one that belongs in a six figure car. I still think Audi offers more impressive tech and tbh very very good driving dynamics. I honestly wouldn't mind if they took an Audi and reskin it to Porsche.

Edit: Still rather drive the Taycan over the RS Etron GT just for the looks alone

Funny how one feature could irritate one owner but delight another. I am coming off a 12 yo 911S that was bereft of any tech at all. The feature I liked the best in that car was that I could simply tap the turn signal rather than lock it in, and it would indicate my lane change. I did not have that on the BMW that I traded in, so to me, that was hi-tech and I used it all the time.

I've never had cameras of any sort in any car before so for me, the image of the car relative to the parking space is pure magic (not sure if this is a standard feature). The other cameras are simply "value added" from my POV.

I love the rear camera. Fish eye makes it easy to see cars coming down the row when I’m backing out of a parking space.

I'm actually starting to get used to it. I view it a bit like aspheric mirrors: hard to get used to at first, but really useful when you get used to it.

The rear camera makes things look much closer than they are, particularly on the sides. This can be useful as it makes you a bit cautious, but when you get used to this effect, you can use it to your advantage.

I also get the impression that some features here are very different depending upon the year of your car, so sometimes we may not be experiencing the same thing.

Totally agree. It’s absolute garbage. I’ve had better backup cameras on the most basic rental cars. It’s mind blowing that the camera view is even acceptable. I have a CT and my view is so low and includes my license plate. But it’s my only complaint and I’m willing to roll my eyes every time I use it and just go on with my day.

It's a super wide angle camera that is scrunched to a non-native aspect ratio. It doesn't really bother me...I'm usually looking at the 360 view anyway. What does bother me though is that there is no button or menu item to display the cameras on-demand. I either have to be close to an object or change the gear to reverse. Would also be nice for Porsche to add an option to display the right cam when right turn signal is on (and vice versa).

My car has a parking sensor button at the bottom of the haptic feedback screen by the arm rest. When you push the button the cameras display on the screen.

I like the cameras, but I too prefer to have them on sooner than they come on automatically. So, I set them up to come on when I push the programmable diamond button on the dash.

Total garbage. Every time I feel like I am about to hit on things when they are 10-ft away from the car but looks like 1-ft on the camera. The front camera, however, is great!

@Stoneageman : welcome to the club. There were few threads about lousy rear camera, so I can only repeat that I had better cameras more than 5 years ago in less expensive cars…. But still: I’m not going to sell it because of that.

..or programme one of the diamond buttons (2) to call up Park Assist or tap the Park Assist on the lower display.

Do some cars not have a park assist button on the bottom left of the haptic input pad?

I’ll have to check if I have that button on the lower display, I haven’t noticed it before. I have the VLC roof which has a fixed button on the lower display to bring up the VLC options

Could be that the Park Assist button has been 'sacrificed' for the VLC function - not ideal if so!

Bottom right now after the recent software update (uPdate) - central display (the lower one).
