Hey guys, this might seem as a dumb question, I have my car for six months now and every time I get off the car, I tend to power it off through the button. Is that what we are supposed to do or if we just walk away and lock the car will it power itself off?

How do you do it on my right or wrong or is there a better way to do it?

This is what I have done for over a year. Personally, I'd never just walk away and expect it to power down when I locked it.

I stop press 'park' and then 'power off'.

I changed the setting recently for the power off after it was mentioned on here.

I only power off at the dash when getting out of the car knowing that I'm not going to lock it immediately (e.g. to open or close the garage door then get back in the car), to avoid triggering a tracker alert.

Losing the battle to ignore my instinct to say "I just push it."

But seriously, I just learned something new as a result of this thread. Why can't the manual for the Taycan be well written and complete?

Obviously when I get in the car I don’t need to press anything, I just select D and start my journey.

At the end of my journey I press the power off button before getting out and locking the car - I didn’t know there was any other way, but regardless, it just seems to be the obvious thing to do!

I very rarely use the Power button at all
I’m the same. Perhaps conditioned by Teslas, I just expect that if the computer knows I’ve got out then it will power itself down when I lock the doors. Likewise I don’t use it when I get in, I just push Drive if it hasn’t already figured out I have arrived.

Surely the power button is, like the infamous elevator door close button, (especially legacy ICE drivers looking for a key switch) just to keep the user happy? Or am I missing something?

The only other function I can see it doing is comfort entry, but then I already have my seat back and wheel up (and it doesnt do any of the other adjustments) so basically comfort entry does nothing.

I always use the power button on exit. Mainly as I want to know it's off. Also, often I'm unloading the car after I get out and want all power draw to be off.

How much unloading are you doing that you can make a significant dent in a 93kWh battery?
Just seems like something relevant only to the age of ICE vehicles.

A good 5 mins. Any power wasted seems pretty pointless to me, for the sake of pressing 1 button 🤷‍♂️
