^ Yes, the price mechanism is the way any sort of remotely normal marketplace for goods or services works to bring supply & demand into balance.

Mercedes-Benz Announces Switch To NACS In North America From 2025

Mercedes-Benz Charging Network
Interestingly, Mercedes-Benz does not resign from its plan to establish its own High-Power Charging Network.

The plan is to offer more than 2,000 Charging Hubs (more than 10,000 individual stalls) in North America, Europe, China, and other core markets by the end of the decade. The number includes 400 Charging Hubs (over 2,500 chargers in North America).

The first ones in North America will be opened before the end of 2023 (in Q4) and ultimately will be equipped with both CCS1 and NACS plugs.

Mercedes-Benz also announced that its own fast charging network will be universally open to electric vehicles for all brands.

Mercedes-Benz Joins Tesla's Supercharger Network
Mercedes-Benz has enabled "plug and charge functionality" by integrating Supercharger access into its Mercedes me Charge service, meaning the charging transaction is handled through an app they already have, and they can simply pull up to a Tesla charger, plug in, and begin a charging session—with payment handled in the background via the app. Charging sessions can also be initiated via the Mercedes app or the car's MBUX touchscreen.

"trampoline" from the car to "app" when the car "notices" you're plugged into a supercharger is pretty clever hack - I like it!!!

essentially plug-in-charge is not actual actual plug&charge handshake between the car and the charging station - it's a "default" behavior that the car will rely on the app to start a charging session when the car "notices" it's plugged in…clever - probably error prone - but will work well enough most of the time…

this sort of approach will probably take over - because frankly I'm very very dubious that everyone is going to get behind a "working" ISO/SAE standard even if it exists - it requires updates to both the cars and charging networks - both of which have various life cycles and roll out schedules…

doing the way Mercedes is doing it means the vehicle vendor can do it "vertically" integrated with only "simple" API access to the charing network (start charging session now please for this "account").

this is a better approach for plug&charge - use the "app/internet" to "broker the deal" - quicker to deploy/implement - and can be done for _ANY_ EV charging network as long as the "stall" can receive. a "start now" from the mother ship…

+1 to House Mercedes for getting this done - I think it's a model that could be easily implemented by other's much more quickly than waiting for any ISO/SAE standard to be rolled out and deployed … this requires much much less from the charging network's infrastructure.

I would like to do one long road trip before I give the car back in December..
Hopefully we have SC access by fall!
Aw come on, Sajan, road trip with EA like the rest of us. Just takes some detailed planning. @whitex picked up his new Taycan on east coast and drove it to Pacific northwest, I think it was in February.

Did he make it home? lol
He might not have had the East Coast delivery been in MA instead of SC.
Just this evening I was researching possible charging stops for my wife and daughter, who took a roundtrip to Boston today, which would have been easily within the i4 M50 range had my wife remembered to charge to 100% (which of course she did not, although at least she was at 80%, so could have been worse).

I noticed that the I-90 Mass Pike rest stops have some new chargers.
Autel 120kW.
Which PlugShare checkins report at about 20kW.
(Yes, that's right, new DCFC units that don't even hit 2x a typical hardwired home 48a AC L2 unit.)

Or we might have found out whether or not you can charge a Taycan by towing it by a tow-strap behind a truck and riding the brake. :CWL:

Slightly (but not totally) off-topic:

I just successfully charged our Genesis GV60 at a Tesla Supercharger by adding a Hyundai Ioniq5 (same vehicle architecture/platform) to the Tesla app and connecting a Lectron Vortex NACS-CCS adapter ...

Did you try a Taycan with as Ioniq 5? Perhaps Hyundai does not support plug-and-charge, and therefore VIN is not transferred, therefore supercharger doesn't even try to get the VIN if it thinks it's an Ioniq 5.
