I do NOT understand why this is difficult for anyone.

Put your finger on the dent in the door handle.
Hold it there until it chirps.

Done. Works 100% of the time.
It doesnt work for everyone all the time that way. It’s not us. It’s the car. I’ve tried on different cars and get different results. On mine, I get about a 70% success rate Doing it Like you describe. I’m going to try this other way.

Since day one has worked for me 95% of the time with the fingertip. No idea where the statistic is from that this works for nobody.
Ditto. Never had an issue from day one. I press with my thumb or index finger.

Perhaps it is PPF on the door handles that prevents the normal finger press from working reliably, or the type of PPF. I have PPF and experience this issue, along with the frunk “swipe to open” not working easily.
I wonder if people who struggle have PPF on the handles? I have definitely observed that PPF interferes with the frunk open gesture.

I don't have it on the doors or handles.

Is this a standard feature or part of the Comfort Access package?

I cant close the doors with the finder touch. I dont have comfort access, so I guess thats the reason.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I have never had any problems with this.

My entire car is PPF including handles and I have zero issues with locking.

It works perfectly for me... as long as I touch the door with the hand opposite the pocket my key is in. The problem is almost certainly that the car can't reliably tell if the key is inside or outside the car. If the car thinks the key is inside, you can't lock or unlock the doors with comfort access. Having the key in the "outside" pocket means it's probably a foot further away, so the car has an easier time telling that the key is not inside.

Another common problem is interference from a cell phone, certain wallets, or even other keys. If CA works reliably when the key is in a pocket by itself, that's likely the issue.

All my cars since probably 2009 have had CA, and they've all been exactly the same way. My 550i was the worst by far. I had to stand so far away from the driver's door to use CA that I found it easier just to use the rear passenger door instead.

If only it would auto-lock when you walked away and it detected no one was in the vehicle.....................

Will this become the official Taycan owner secret wave or handshake?

The lengths we are going to to figure out an operation that should be table stakes is absurd. My 2007 3 series was way easier to lock with a simple touch of my finger for 0.5 seconds. Why is a 2021 or 2022 Taycan requiring finger gymnastics to lock? My wife keeps the key in her purse and would never take it out to lock with the remote.

I wish it locked the exact same way as it unlocks. It knows when you walk towards the car, why not do the same when you walk away. Why should you have to touch it at all? Another brand does this.

follow-up question... I'm one of those people who the touch with fingertip/hold to lock DOES NOT work 100% of the time (except with the New, Improved, back-of-finger method)

but my car does NOT always unlock when i walk up to it 100% of the time

how about everyone else -

if your car does NOT lock like you think it should by hand/finger - does it UNLOCK perfectly when you walk up to it? Every time?

Same question for those who NEVER have a problem finger locking - does it UNLOCK perfectly when you walk up to it? Every time?
Maybe your battery is low in your remote. Have you tried your second remote or maybe try to change the battery?

The last time I locked my CT with the touch of a finger I got a call pleading with me to do something about the alarm. I was 200 miles away and deactivated the alarm by unlocking the car with the iPhone app. Ever since then it's been two taps on the key fob to lock the car.
Why 2 taps?
