In the UK there are significant Tax advantages buying new for businesses.
Thanks. In the US, the tax benefits for buying I do not believe it would matter whether it is new or used. There can be advantages to leasing in the US as well, and while you could lease a pre-owned vehicle, most are indeed new.

The GTS also has the upgraded battery and thinking the sport sound would be standard but not 100% sure.

Thinking the GTS covers main 4S options....
HUGE pointt here no one has mentioned so far - if I read this correctly i.e. are you saying the new order 4S does not come with the PB+ (in some areas its incl by default)?

You do emphasize that the GTS has the 'upgraded' battery and assume you mean PB+ correct?

Looking at the various options and assuming you'll be doing 100% tarmac/cement highway driving then the addition of a PB+ would for sure make the GTS a better choice imo, again assuming at a good price!

Well since I'm spending your money... Buy the used GTS now, drive it for the next 6+ months and trade it in on the 4S spec'd the way you want. No idea how your VAT/sales taxes work and that could cost you, but the car shouldn't depreciate all that much in the interim. The car you have now will be depreciating. You will have a month or so to drive a Taycan and see what options you really want before your lock date. Race-Tex seats can not be vented. 21" wheels do look good but the ride is noticeably harsher. Rear axle steering "shrinks" the car in tight maneuvers. Little things like that could make no difference to you or could wind up changing your spec.

Hi everyone.
First post here. From Sydney, Australia and have ordered a new 4S due early Jan. Freeze date coming late next month and doing the usual crazy research on options. In the meantime, I've found a used 1 year old GTS with 5.5k km's. Descent spec in Crayon (my order would be Ice Grey) with full black Mission Es. For my order on the new 4S, with options I'm looking at, the new 4S is around the same price of the 1 yr old GTS. Noting that the 4S will be 18 months newer. I've spec'd the GTS on the configurator and the depreciation on new cost is around 19% so I feel like it's a cracker deal. Getting new is also very special obviously, selecting an exact spec you want. Don't want to do the whole what would you do but any glaring / strong thoughts / opinions on either option?
I was in exactly the same position and specked my 4S and was given a long lead time. I then did research and found a GTS in the colour i wanted and fully loaded one year old and same price as 4S. i thought it was a no brainier as the GTS is ex Porsche marketing car UK. I am moving from a 20 month old 911 and being paid virtually what i paid for it.

If you publish both the 4s and the GTS configurations the Forum will give you a lot of feedback on what is missing from each. Of course in the end you need to decide.

Personally I'm not a fan of Race-Tex because they can't be vented. However, I have no issue with 21" wheels. I have 21" Mission-E's on my 4s and combined with the superb air suspension the car rides better than I ever expected. Going over speed bumps (small ones of course) is almost effortless.

Thanks everyone. Wow I must say the level of engagement and input on this forum is pretty awesome! Lots of support for the GTS but at this point I think ill lean toward the new 4S. The GTS is not at a Porsche dealer so not Certified so a little uncomfortable re this. In addition, the colour and interior are not exactly what I want. I do plan to keep the car for a while (say 5 years) so thinking in paying this much, I should get something that is my preference (thinking colour and interior are pretty significant to have to compromise on). I guess if it was one of my preferred colours it may have changed but ill give this one a miss for now.
Thanks so much to you all for your advice!

I’d take (GTS) today…and enjoy.
5.5k km is new car, so who cares if you are not the 1st
Who knows if your new will arrive in January…

edit: i changed my mind when ifound out that GTS is not at certified dealer.
But still, i’d try to find pre-owned.

I agree I checked every certified Porsche dealer in the UK and found the perfect GTS in exact colour with even more options than I would have chosen. Collect it on Saturday and have a 450 mile journey home.

Very nice indeed. There was a very very well spec'd GTS ST in PTS Nardo Grey at Bristol which sold very quickly, was wondering who snapped that one up. I had a sit in it while it was in prep, as it had options that Ive specified on my build, but never actually seen (VLC Pano, Burmeister etc).
