12 Volt Battery Shortage

I hope all y’all who’ve got cars waiting for a battery get it as soon as possible… At the same time I hope my car that is set to enter production shortly will get its battery in the assembly line

It’s already in this thread. I got mine at the dealer 5th of August. Finished production 22nd of July.

On another note, it’s odd that the battery shortage is due to PCB shortage yet the cars are being produced, surely they must also contain tons of PCBs. Maybe it’s just this 12V battery PCB that is custom?

Can image the conversations internally with Porsche and between them and A123 must be pretty strained.

Not sure if Porsche (or even the great Volkswagen Group) has muscle with alternative suppliers that could produce this PCB part, as an emergency measure...

Or even rethink a temporary solution using another battery supplier, perhaps with some makeshift battery BMS arrangement. After all this has been going on almost 3 months.

Reputationally and financially this must be having an impact on P now.

Wait so the cars are being produced and shipped but can't be delivered to the owner? My GTS JUST finished production a week ago and it waiting to be sent to Emden, so can I reasonably expect that my car wont have a 12V upon delivery to the dealership?

I have managed to speak to A123 Systems who are the producers of the 12V battery. They have let me know that they are still producing the batteries for Porsche but they have a backlog because of PCB (Printed Circuit Board) shortage. So it’s moving, but slowly. Is it just Taycans that are suffering, or are other Porsche models affected? I also wonder who makes the PCBs and why there is a shortage of them?

There’s very little information but ask your dealer to check if your VIN number has an open campaign (But not sure if all cars waiting @ Porsche’s facilities have the campaigns opened)

Oh men, go to the dealer and spend some time there.

Check the details that you spec, sit inside, feel the leather, analize those angles, check out your 21 rims. Just look at it for 10 minutes.

Your CT is so beautiful that it will give you a fresh incentive to handle the waiting knowing that It will be worthy. Trust me.

Called my dealer moments ago. My car supposed to be done (vehicle completion) in May, then June, then 16 September, now there is 18th November and according to the dealer this date was recently shortened by two weeks - was December. So I guess (my words) I should be happy that line is decreasing. It is still confirmed that Vehicle entered body shop 27th June.

The most terrifying thing is that dealer doesn't know and when they call the "base" they say that is the electronics supply shortage but dealer thinks that base don't know.

I'm so frustrated and can only wait.

I feel for the dealers that are receiving the cars minus the batteries because they are charged by Porsche for them but they can’t sell them to the customer and get that money back into their account.
