Then why is it in the simulator at all? ?

I'm worried. I've been training myself 4h daily on the sim so I don't look like an idiot at delivery day and now you people tell me there are non existent options.
Maybe the simulator has future features, or features which got cut and never made the release.

My guess, simulator was the proof of concept code. I hope the code is not the same that runs the web simulator and the actual PCM. Then again, I must say the responsiveness of the PCM UI was one of the few disappointments so who knows, maybe PCM is just running some web code. At the Taycan price point, Porsche should have at least put in enough processing power into the PCM to be as responsive as the latest phones/tablets. Over time, I get it, OTA updates will slow it down, but starting this slow just makes me worry.

Can i just add that i did weeks of research when spec-ing my Taycan regarding RAS and the 99.9% consensus is "i dont regret getting RAS" but "i wished i got RAS" and its just wild we found the one random use-case where not having RAS would be better.

I get that these discussion most often end up in another thread about build sheet but I think it is missing the point. It’s not because an option is useful 95% of the the time that there is no situations where you would rather not have it (ESP is a good example). For some options which are basically controlled by software, I wish Porsche was allowing the same kind of customization they allow in their configurator.

Though the jury is still (slightly) out on that one. It is possible that I just have to back into my garage differently, and haven't learned how yet. I will report if I have any success.

That being said, being able to turn it off would definitely be nice, as then I could just do the "traditional" car thing of having the front wheels as pivot point. "Pushing the car straight" seems simpler than having to think about it traveling on a circle. And counteracting that by making inverse circle motions with the steering wheel sounds... fiddly.

I'm almost at the point of trying out the geometry on paper. I'm not good at geometry.

You will get used to it. It is weird. I very mildly curbed my rear passenger rim when turning left into a driveway because the car just turns so sharply.

Yes. I've had the car for less than two weeks now, and I already have two small scratches on the gloss jet black rims from my concrete garage (and with the metal shining through the black paint, they're more obvious).

I wish I had found the "wheel view" camera setting earlier, because that enormously helps saving my wheels... Much more than the overhead view (and the standard front/rear view is of course useless for narrow spaces, as opposed to short spaces).

I find the wheel trajectories showing on the overhead view of the parking camera view quite helpful when maneuvering myself.

I think we found a usecase where disabling RAS would be helpful for parallel parking. I still don't regret getting RAS, would get it again, just annoying the disable option is missing.

I find they have a lot of margin for error built into them (the lines are wider than a car by at least a foot, 6" in each side).

The trajectories, yes, definitely. They help me figure out the general strategy at the very least. The overhead view... somehow, in my poorly lit garage at least, it's hard to make the pillars and the curbs out. As said, I already scratched my rims a bit, sadly.

The "wheel view" on the other hand makes it very obvious to me when I'm going to hit either pillars on the left side or curb on the right side (even though in my picture pasted above it's probably not very obvious at all, but it makes sense when you're a) in motion and, more importantly, b) know exactly what to look for).

Note that this is not parallel parking, but the opposite. Parking in a narrow garage with a strange entry angle forced on my by garage door and outside vegetation.

For parallel parking, the RAS actually helps a lot. The very beginning of this video shows how: video

That's true, but at least the geometry of the trajectories do help me to figure out how the car is trying to move. If you have RAS, they show as a neat circle segment.

For context, I'm pasting my photo again.

It shows both the trajectory lines on the overhead view (and they being a circle segment), as well as the wheel view, and how it's much easier to make out pillar base on the left and curb on the right than on the overhead view:

It also somewhat shows one of the challenges of our garage layout: Note how only the passenger side back parking sensor is showing up red. That's because there's an overhang here. The bushes in front of that are also much more of a problem in reality than this picture would have you believe.
