Due kind of regret a little going turbo instead of turbo S
As much as the Turbo S is a hell of a car, the GTS is plenty and I’m happy with the slight “downgrade”. However, I’m likely to stay put - went to see a lovely GTS ST, just sub £100k. Got offered £70 for mine! The dealers they get bids from are not buying Taycans at the moment! Allegedly..

Hard decision, both are great specs.

For me if I'd get the Turbo S, if its specced as my dream car I'll never have to think about upgrading.

I love my GTS and wouldn't change it for the world, however, in this scenario the Turbo S makes way more sense. If you plan on changing in a few years regardless, the Turbo S has already taken a large depreciation hit, whereas the GTS is almost new. This means when you trade in the GTS in a few years, you'll take much more of a financial hit.
The Turbo S also looks to be a better spec with more tech. The only slight downside is those wheels...yeeshhh! :giggle:

Drive both back to back and you will know.

More power is never a bad thing with these cars as they can put the power down with zero drama.

Hi All,

i own a 2020 Turbo S. Great car.
Can anyone explain the drastic devaluation of the car? what is the main reason?

Thanks

Was wondering the same. I am possibly in the market for a TS as an upgrade from a 4s....but why the massive depreciation (in reference to the 4 or 4s).

Taycan Turbo S dropped 100k in 3 years. Panamera Turbo S dropped 100k in 4 years.
I don't understand either, maybe because its a very expensive EV with not so good range and not so luxurious interior. I tried to convince a friend to get a Turbo S but he would not pay 150k for it so he got a Bentley GT.

Thanks :)

If I may ask, what was the main reason to move from Turbo to GTS?

Compared to Turbo S, the only important thing GTS is missing is PDCC. The Turbo also has an Exterior Design Carbon package and a passenger display which I can live without.

How much difference does a PDCC make?
Sorry for slow reply. I ordered a GTS out of the box, to my spec and then had an 18 month wait. So, I bought the Turbo with imperfect spec and 1,000 miles on the clock while I waited. I thought about an RWD at the time, but the Turbo was selling (used) at just under list and the RWDs were selling in excess of list price, which I couldn't justify. Thankfully, traded it in (at a £15k loss) before the big used electric price shift. Having found what I really liked, I was able to tweak the GTS spec and optimise it. Your proposed GTS has almost all of what I would have chosen. I also went on a "test" drive with my Turbo before switching immediately to a test drive of the dealer's demo GTS. I found that you could feel that the Turbo was a little faster but that extra was really unnecessary and hard to use in normal road use. The GTS is well fast enough and a very complete package, optimised for driver enjoyment. As you probably know, Turbo and Turbo S perform the same, apart from under launch control conditions. I have tried launch control a few times, including at the Porsche Experience Centre, but never once felt the need to do on my GTS.

Note: There are some tweaks on the newer models (such as storage pack included) which are real nice-to-haves. The storage pack is worth way more than it costs. It is ridiculous that it isn't standard on all models all along!

Summary. I recognise that financial considerations are very important but these cars are not wholly rational choices. So ... go for the one you really like, and enjoy it! My vote is for the GTS.

No reason at all other than this is standard depreciation on a luxury sedan. The past couple years have been screwed up with nothing depreciating. All that happened was that three years of depreciation hit at once. This is pretty standard for a used three year old luxury sedan. Even 911 Turbo’s used to drop the same amount in that time frame. They were always the worst buy in the range as far as depreciation goes.

you’re not looking for more power and this is the newer one.

And if you buy this car, no leasing, and after a time you want to have more power you can tune it to the Turbo power
How can you tune a GTS to have more power (i.e. - reach Turbo levels)?

Company called HGP has a tune out for the taycans and Etrons. Brings the HP of the GTS and Turbo/Turbo S to around 800hp.
