4/2021 RWD. I just press/tap the cluster diamond like a normal button (i.e keyboard, elevator) when close to my garage and it works well. Same for closing. I found that the car cannot be more than ~20 ft. from the door to activate it.
Sure, the diamond buttons you don't need to press and hold. We're referring to the PCM way to use Homelink.

Ah. Way easier to use diamond buttons IMO.

It certainly is, and that's how I started out. I've since switched to using the PCM because I prefer using those 2 buttons for higher priority things (in my case Next Track, toggle Sport Sound) and in turn just accepting the slightly less convenient PCM-based way.

Yeah I switched to this config for a while (next track and sport sound for assignable buttons), but found the inconvenience of extra pushes when backing out of the garage was more annoying than not having next track or sport sound at my fingertips so I switched back. And if you back into your garage and pull out without backing, I think there would be two less steps (button presses) and the Homelink on PCM approach would be better....

First world problems tho...

What I'm doing for now is I activate Homelink before I start backing up. Then, iirc, once I switch into reverse, the backup camera feed overlays on top of the Homelink menu. Then, once I've reached a medium speed in the forward direction, the backup camera goes away and the Homelink menu (unfortunately) persists. At this point I do the extra tap to dismiss the Homelink menu. Honestly though if the Homelink menu pops up based on location, it should also go away automatically if you leave that location. Hopefully in a software patch...

I have had no range issues with Homelink at a variety of approach angles so I think it's a YMMV situation.

Resurrecting this thread with a question I think I already know the answer to :)! i.e. probably not.

Can you 'bundle' two Homelink commands and assign to the single diamond optional button in the curved dash?

It seems like such an obvious feature to have - set up your security gate and your garage profiles and then assign one command to open both in sequence - can be a delay of a second or two between each transmission or whatever. Would really love to have such an option.and you'd never have to muck around with the Homelink screen.

Based on my past experience I would screw this up. I programmed two different garage doors to the same code so they would both respond to a press of the home link. The only problem was that a number of times it would only open one. And then - every time - the next press would open one and close the other. My wife thought it was hilarious -- me not so much!
