Got an email saying my "Porsche Connect" contract is expiring. I thought that this was the free 30-min charging sessions at EA stations but the online description is quite different. Has anybody renewed this - or not - and can advise if it's worth it? I use Apple CarPlay instead of most PCM functions but the list of "Connect" services is quite comprehensive, and honestly I don't think I should have to pay for them.

Yes, it is essential. Everything that needs data will not work anymore. Even something small like the album art when you listen to radio. But more important features; Charger data on sat nav, traffic jams, Apple Music, Weather app, Calendar app, MyPorsche app will not work anymore

A clear: don‘t buy from me.

If you use CarPlay / Android auto you basically don‘t feel it..
Living without it for 6 months already including some longer trips.

Remote preheat via App still works without this well overpriced package.
That would be the only feature I would have bitten the rotten apple. Glad it works without.

Will change my mind if they would couple it with J1 II software features..

Hardly “essential”. You can do all of that with your iPhone via CarPlay or Android Auto.

I‘d rather spend the £269 annual subscription on something else.

Okay - sounds like I can get by without it. Although I do need to spend $ again to earn MQDs for Delta Medallion status for '25....I think I'll wait on this one.

Just try to live without it for some weeks. You can reactivate it anytime

Definitely not worth it. Mine expired. I don’t miss it a bit.

Lost ability to set up charging profiles and all PCM functions that matter… when my tincn became 3 yrs old.
I charge from home via Porsche approved 3 phase unit.

A nice little earner for Porsche then.
I am so angry that I will now sell the car and swallow the 70% drop in value after 3 yrs, as I won’t be ransomed having paid more than 3 times what a Tesla or BYD (with twice the range and no ‘dripping roast’ carryover charges would have cost).

Mine expired 2 months ago. It seems the web app updated at the same time. From what I can tell it makes your phone app useless. I can no longer find how to change the user profile to set the charge % on connection. (you can still set this within the car UI). I can't use the app to see what my car charge status is. I also can no longer navigate to my car (for when I forgot where I parked), I can no longer use Internet radio, and it again, makes the phone app useless.

I also no longer have my driver assistance features, I thought I purchased with the vehicle, not a subscription!

I am very disappointed in the nickel and diming Porsche gives me after spending 150k on their car. I was going to buy the Macan for my wife but decided on going with Mercedes GLC coupe instead because of this and because Porsche's PCM is complete CRAP to begin with. The Mercedes works perfectly and amazes me how poor the Porsche is. I won't even attempt using the voice interface, even for navigation. It just doesn't work! I have purchased 16 Porsches in my life but think the marriage is over. We deserve better than this!

For comparison:
Porsche gives 3 years free then charges following:
Basic connectivity and phone app usage: $320/year
Car Security: $280/year
Enable Active Lane Keep Assist: $956 unlimited years
Innodrive (Adaptive cruise): $956 unlimited
Range Manager: 474 unlimited

Mercedes gives 1 year free and then charges $150/year for the connectivity stuff but that's it.

I paid a lot of money for the tech package or whatever it was called to get the lane keep and innodrive features. I am confused as my Porsche app is prompting me to buy these but I thought I bought them with the car. Seems bogus to now make me pay a subscription to keep it.

I could understand it that some of the Innodrive functions would have issues. Innodrive relies very much on the map material and database etc for speed limits. Unless the camera sees them. But the rest of the drive assistance should work, in my mind!

My car had this from start and it will be interesting to see what will happen once I stop paying. All the other things I can do without. Convenience for cooling/ heating yes, but the rest is of no value. In fact my traffic information is normally so out of date and I can not rely on it at all.

For me it is 319 Euro per year for connect service and 25 Euro per month for the charging service.

And before anyone states it: yes I can afford it.
But I see zero value from them so why pay?

I know there will be limitations in the car and even worse maps, but I normally use Apple CarPlay anyhow.

As far as I can see the unsubscribed app just logs some charging sessions. I can't activate remote preheat. Am I missing something?
I can still activate pre heat of my car, might be a German thing. All other services are deactivated.

Absolute waste of money IMO because of the functionality given via mobile phones - for nothing. And Porsche have clearly overpriced it for what's on offer. Actually the only thing I might have used is the remote charging app in case, for whatever reason, the charging is not happening. But I can monitor this at home via the wall charger app so only an issue if I am overnighting somewhere else.
