Yes - i was getting a quote from builders at a rental place i own and i saw them outside and tried to drive past them and they stared at me when i went past (i had a police car behind me so was going quite slowly!). I tried to park on the next street but it wasn’t a good street so had to go back…

negative part was the quote was at least £200 higher than it should have been…
Lucky…they might have added another zero! Taycan tax ?

My wife keeps complaining about how much stuff I’m buying for the car. Does that count?

For me it’s always been positive feedback, especially pedestrians showing a “thumbs up”. Biggest show off here are PCCBs, those giant disks are a landmark on their own :D

Northern Cal resident here. My very first day driving the car a homeless man on a bike flashed me the finger and I thought oh no this is not good. I also a few months back (posted on the situation on this forum) got some dirty looks from a supermarket attendant putting away carts in the parking lot. Aside from those two instances though in 10 months of ownership it’s been overwhelmingly positive comments from friends/neighbors. My favorite is the not infrequent smile/thumbs up at red lights. I love my car.

I can’t wait for my CT4S to arrived so that I can hide a little more under the radar!…….. currently have a Tesla model X that attracts all sort of attention when opening/closing the rear gul wing doors………oh hang on…..my CT4S is going to be Carmine red so maybe won’t be that inconspicuous……… I’ll just have to wear as many padded jackets so that I look wider than the rear wheel arches of a Taycan to scare the critic!

At the end of the day, you have worked hard for your car so don’t let some ‘pea’ brain with envy steel your well deserved fun, enjoy it and drive it like you stole it

Outside of the non-EV crowd, nothing really. Even the non-EV crowd tend to just like the cool looking car and then get shocked to find out it’s electric but most are too impressed to start to insult at that point. I know the feeling of the attention in rough areas as most EA chargers in the US are at Walmarts and usually all the way out back. So road trips at night, especially when the store is closing, are…interesting. TBH tho, even at Walmarts, most who look or come over to talk just like the car. In the end, you can’t live your life trying to make everyone happy. Find your happiness and for your family And the rest is beyond your control anyway so don’t sweat it.

I once saw a guy, 30ish, step out of a Lamborghini Aventador and head into a swanky London hotel. He was Italian looking, dressed in a superb suit and the car was stunning in black. I really admired the car and kinda wished I had his style and dress sense but I never thought ‘I gotta key that car!’

Porsches are everywhere these days. Porsche make 10 times as many cars as AML, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Bentley combined. Maybe they’re not as common as a BMW or Mercedes but I wouldn’t worry about it at all. I’ve got mates with watches that cost more. It’s no big deal.

You’ll get questions when you’re at the Electrify America charging station. Folks will marvel how you were the last to get there and the first to leave. Beyond that, literally nobody cares. In the northeastern United States, a Taycan flies very much under the radar. Heck, I didn’t even have the only Gentian Blue Taycan on my block.

Part of the appeal of a Porsche is that people don’t care. The only people that care about Porsche cars are other enthusiasts. The average person can’t tell the difference between a Base Carrera and a GT3 Touring. If you are buying a Porsche for attention, you’re doing it wrong.

I feel a lot of people who own ICE cars feel threatened by EVs. (in general).

Especially with ICE cars due to be phased out in a few years time, combined with a higher cost of EVs.

So although not specific to Taycan - I come across the passive aggressive comments (mostly fake) about charging woes / child labour / battery recycling etc quite often.
But I am surprised at some of the people who do make these comments.

On a Taycan specific note, I felt a keen interest from some people in finding out what was wrong when it went in to have the heater fixed.
They wouldn't have cared less if it was say a petrol BMW / Audi / Merc / whatever.
But I could see the schadenfreude look in their eyes, when they found out the 'electric Porsche' was bricked.
Reinforced their views.

I have to ask- your profile says Ukraine- how challenging is it to charge your car with all the electrical supply issues?

Its an attractive car but not at all exotic. There are Ferraris, Lambourghinis, McLarens, 911 varieties etc out there that look far more exotic. If you believe you are getting excess attention then you are simply paranoid. Around my neighborhood, nobody cares. You shouldn't either. Enjoy the ride.
