Just a quick update on my order - I had a call from my SA towards the end of the day:
1) bad news my allocation is now Feb rather than Jan production
2) good news that might allow me to add Burmeister (but not Bose)

He will hopefully confirm tomorrow.

So I’m really lucky to potentially have the option to spend another £4,200 and receive my car a bit later…
:CWL:
So should I take up the offer?

Take the Burmester and we can swap them out (I'll not bother giving you the money in the spirit of buying a Porsche)

The piss taking continues, it seems.

If the options I want aren't available, I'd defer the order. I see zero point in spending well (well!) over £100k on a car, built to my spec, only for it not to be.

My car was completed on the 23/9 and has since been waiting for its 12v battery.

It’s now on its way and due at the dealership on the 25th November.

It seems things are slowly moving through the system. My original order was for a CT but I switched to an ST as soon as they released the body style in the Turbo version.

I’m getting excited now!

Agree. If I can't get the spec I want after an extended wait, price rises and a near £110k base price, I'm cancelling and getting a Peugeot e208 in protest.

If that's good enough for my PEC day pro driver (it really was his daily), it's good enough for me too.

Finally my turbo is off the starting block , back in on Thursday to finalise the spec , roughly how long before delivery as I’d rather marcg delivery if possible

If there are no parts shortages for your spec it can be built in a couple of weeks and be at a dealer within a couple more weeks.
If the Bose, or any other, parts you specified are in short supply it may be much longer.
My car took from 16th April until 30th July to go from phase 3 to phase 4. I don't know what part of my slightly unusual spec caused the hold up - since I did drop Bose as a known delay.
It has been at phase 5 since 16th August due to the 12V battery shortage but arrived in the UK complete this weekend.
I hope to get it in early Dec

I don't think anybody is taking the piss, there are just parts shortages.

With the Porsche having an almost infinite variation in spec available in the configurator almost any spec risks being delayed somewhere along the line.

Even though I dropped Bose due to known delays my car still took from 16th April until 30th July to be built - I don't know which part(s) of my spec caused it to be so slow.
At the time of my order I was warned the the racetex B pillar was marked as causing indefinite delay, so there are obviously many parts shortages over and above the stereo, which isn't an important part of my car luckily for me.

I am surprised at the angst expressed by some people in respect of some options not being available, given the known ongoing supply issues as a result of the pandemic.

As an update to my posts yesterday, my order popped up on MyPorsche this morning.

There aren't infinite variations on the stereos, just 3 choices. And I'd bet on cars like the GTS, Bose is going to be a pretty frequently ticked one.

Are other markets being hit on the same components?

Maybe this is the best any company can do in terms of supply chain predictability, but for a manufacturer of Porsche's stature and profitability, I'd expect them to be much better than they have been. At a minimum, their communication should be much better - the distinct impression I get is that dealers are being left in the dark.

Having never ordered brand new from Porsche before, perhaps they're always like this?

It's all somewhat moot for me as every part's currently unavailable from my perspective. I keep an eye on the used options and there are growing numbers hitting the shelves there. Will see what happens on the comms front between now and Christmas, but as things stand I suspect I may cancel (which'll be good news for those 875 and beyond in the list at my dealer :D).

I can understand both sides. I was at the Porsche Experience day on Monday and the demo CT4S was pretty well specc'd. One of the first things I noticed was the electronic steering column and I remember thinking 'you won't be having that' and there was a momentary feeling of regret but, only momentary. The reason was quite simple, it was removed before I locked-in so I knew it was gone and had the option to do something about it (upgrade to a model that had it etc) if I wanted it so badly.

Where there is frustration however, is the uncertainty over options that have been locked-in with no specific updates from Porsche as to whether my car will arrive with them. Specifically, I'm talking about Bose. My SA has stated that Bose will be fitted (car goes into production this Friday hopefully) but, there is still enough doubt that I will have to just wait and see what turns up. That feels more like a lottery than anything else which is disappointing for this type of purchase. Showstopper? Probably not but, frustrating nevertheless. Good communication is key especially during times like these and, unfortunately, I think Porsche could be doing better.

Congrats on the order confirmation by the way. Regardless of the current situation, it's still a cracking ownership journey to be on. ?

Certainly communication from dealers has been poor, but in fairness I think that’s driven by poor communication from Porsche GB which is driven by poor communication from Porsche AG.

I certainly have more sympathy with those who had finalised a specification but who might not end up with all those options on the car when it eventually arrives.

I went to the PEC yesterday - forgot how much fun they are..
Flew around in a Taycan - went out on the road and this one only had springs and in comfort setting it was fantastic (on 21" Wheels) I couldn't believe how well it managed the dire roads around Silverstone/Buckingham.

As we got back to the PEC the heating failed - would only blow cold air, and this highlighted the issue I had with a dealer car where it threw up loads of errors and we had to cut short the test drive because also got a puncture! The driving consultant said it would get sorted at half time but we just put the heated seats on and all was ok. I remember doing the launch controls and getting towards the end of the road, braking - reminded me of driving an old XJ6 25 years ago, it was pretty crazy pulling all that weight to a standstill.

For those of you that have a Taycan how is the reliability - I am not hearing great things, bearing in mind I had a speed yellow Cayman/ 911 and Cayenne over 10 years and all of them never went back to the OPC unless it was scheduled maintenance.
I really don't have the time to manage a car that needs driving back to the dealer frequently, however nice the staff/coffee is :)

I noticed - 5 911's being test driven, 7 Taycan and 2 Macan's being run around so electric is for yesterday high on the agenda.

Wonderful experience!
