My 2c: the 4s is definitely quicker and pull harder by a good margin. I personally like the RWD dynamic better though and I value agility over raw acceleration. That being said, this is a harder sell on a 2000kg car than on other models where the T is usually my favorite. I optioned my RWD with all the dynamic goodies and I am sure It will be blast on mountain roads and the best is, I will be enjoying this with my family and a shitload of equipment in the trunk.

20K difference, is pretty much what is expected between a RWD and a 4s, It's a big chunk of money and I would rather put that money on the actual sports car. The 10k ADM is fucked up though and I am surprised you were charged that much for someone who already have a GT car. I ordered mine in Sept from France and ended up paying €3K euros under MSRP.

RWD is a joy to drive. Clearly not as fast as other variants, but for all practical purposes it does not feel like a compromise. (I don't regard 'beating everyone else from the lights' as a practical purpose, although I accept that many would disagree.) It is lighter, has perfect weight distribution, and is rear-wheel drive - all of which contribute to the fun. Price was part of my decision-making process, but I don't regret the choice.

I see you're in LA. Which dealer is charging you 10k adm on a RWD?

Extremely fucked up. One of the MAIN reasons I want to cancel is for the ADM. Been doing a lot of business with my dealer too.

Lease the RWD for 2years, 5000 miles a year, no down just drives and flip the car immediately.
You get the $7500 as a cap reduction.

Then wait for the car you want, but you get your $7500

I am in the same boat for my RWD I have ordered, have a 458 so figured the RWD would be sufficient for a daily. Tbh it seems at highway speeds it isn’t far off / pretty close to the ls3 camaro I used to have, and I never felt that car was lacking power for daily use. I think the RWD probably lacks the wow factor for ev acceleration but more than enough for daily use where you rarely floor it (for example I don’t even go full throttle that often in my 458)

Let’s keep this simple. RWD is a great car (see many prior threads on this and multiple reputable reviews on YouTube). If you want a RWD then option it as you like and shop around. I live in the Bay Area and drove 3 hours to a dealership that wasn’t such a-holes about the markup (paid 5K markup as opposed to 10-15k). If I had unlimited funds would I get a fully loaded turbo s? Hell yes! Do I love my rwd and does it make me smile daily even after 7 months? Hell yes!

This is a bit off topic but I am definitely annoyed with the Bay Area dealers lately. They are going downhill since the the pandemic, both service and sale. Before I was settled to move, I was looking at a Taycan locally and got pissed on how condescending they were and not making you feeling special like they use to. I was happy how easy and nice it was in France compare to here.

I definitely think you need to stop and take a bit of time out to decide what you really want and where it will fit in with what you already have.

The thread has already changed from Taycan RWD v 4S, to Taycan v Cayenne.
Which is a completely different proposition.

Don't act in haste is my only advice.

The RWD is a great fun car. I’m glad I did not test drive any of the others but for sure the GTS will be the next in line a year from now.

I moved to the RWD from a 2003 911 non-turbo. I've very happy with the RWD. It's very quick off the line and, as someone mentioned, it really jumps once you are going 15-20 mph and hit the 'gas'.

That said, I've never had occasion to floor the accelerator or use boost. No plans to go to a track. I drive around central coast California quite a bit. I never see Porsche owners testing out their car's acceleration potential. That seems to be the job of drivers of late-model Mustangs (gas version).

I am a mere 3000 miles into my RWD, and will readily admit that off the line 0-60 feels limited (software limited in my opinion)

BUT

Once rolling I find that acceleration anywhere above 20mph is more than enough to merge, overtake or give unsuspecting passengers a bit of whiplash. Obviously its not on a par with the higher powered models, but drives well and is enough for me.

Hope this helps, a bit.

Couple things I want to Clarify…

I will get the $7,500 fed credit, and 135k includes CA sales tax 10.25%.

so it reality the car is about 115k+ out of door fees. Walking away would result in losing the $7,500.

I also do see a weakening market and considering buying used(just haven’t found a good example for a good price). Would love to pickup a 2022 Taycan 4s for 115k but it’s just not going to happen. Really would love to make the purchase this year for tax benefits.
$10K ADM more than cancels out the $7,500 rebate (since there is sales tax on the $10K, so you're paying $11K extra). In other words, if you cancel and order same car at MRSP, you get $11K discount but lose $7,500 credit, still $3,500 ahead of the game.

Just a thought, if you decide you might want to keep the car but willing to walk away. You can tell the dealer you are finding allocation at MSRP, but they know about the rebate so suggest that you split the rebate with them - i.e. lower the ADM to $3750, subject of course to delivery this year (should there be delays which could cost you the $7,500, at the very least delay it by a year). Win-win for both sides, lose-lost for both if they refuse, unless of course they feel they could get a higher ADM, but that is getting harder with the current economy (lately I've seen more cars advertised at MSRP, check out this thread too). Worst case scenario, you walk away and get something else. I am assuming you can walk away without losing some deposit. Also, you'll have to wait a bit longer, but perhaps it's worth the money.
