Mmm considering the initiative Porsche is showing to bring cars into the shop for a four hour sw upgrade and the cost to Porsche to do so... I think there is a lot unsaid in that letter in regards to bug fixes etc that this SW will address... its your car - but I would probably bring it in....
I agree, reading between the lines of that letter, it's a recall-style thing when they talk about "affected vehicles". Basically this is a "please bring it in for essential Improvements, although we will not admit there was anything wrong with the car in the first place".

My 21 turbo is sitting at the Port.
needs new inverter. Weeks of delay. So far.

then- I have been told that the dealership will Also need to reload software due to a recent issue. Service will require a 17 hour download!
will take 2 full days as they want to monitor progress. I am shocked that Porsche still uses Dial up modems! Wow!

I think we have finally identified the Porsche dealer service revenue model for EV's - sw upgrades- once out of warranty we'll be paying as our taycans sit in a dealership downloading sw.... ;)

I have an appointment for the MY20 large software update in week 13 ( release of the software is expected in week 12). They scheduled two days but I don't know whether that is done as precaution (btw I get as loaner a Taycan for the first time)
Has someone in Porsche confirmed the update is coming in week 12 for MY20?

A lot
This huge amount of data for this update is probably the reason it's not done OTA.
And of course cuz of the issue with the self-corrupting OTA-module sw...
Makes sense, doesn't it?
I'm glad to see there are also updates for the OTA.
Hopefully we'll be where we should have been, a year ago...(so we can get updates via OTA!).
Ah well, let's see what happens.
I'm a little hesitant cuz my car is working perfectly fine at the moment...

Has anyone in the US received this letter? I am curious to know if this is a phased rollout.

Let's assume out of that 9 hours, probably two requires actual human labor. There are exactly zero or one Taycan experts at most dealers. The update may also require connection to a special computer or service jig that a dealership may have exactly zero or one of. So it's a throughput thing. It would be ideal if they could do multiple in parallel - and I'm not saying they can't - but consider the throughput. It will almost certainly have to be a phased approach, with the squeakiest wheels and most proactive dealers likely being the first ones updated.

December build, February arrival. Nothing in the mail box to date.
I am curious to see if this will be applied to my car before I get it. My car is currently on a boat (lost at sea I think based on how long it is taking).

It is expected to be released in week 12. However it is not 100% confirmed therefore my dealer suggested for safety to make the appointment one week later so fingers crossed.

I got my letter today. MY21 Turbo S.

I’ve heard it’s a very important update and it does indeed change the pronunciation of the word Taycan.
I heard they drop one of these in the boot as well ? but only if you have had a 12v battery issue...
