KIA has the power to suprise, but by no means a Taycan, you can as well choose Mini Countryman electric. I would compare this to a Macan electric for a fair comparison.
the depreciation hurts. But I would never buy a KIA unless I had to make due. Parking next to the Kona’s and enyaqs
it’s so sensible But I’m sure you will enjoy it, fantastic cars in their priceband.

Not a fan of the newer Mini’s at all and their suspension is terrible for anything close to comfort. I had an R56 Cooper-S and that was a fun car, but bloody hell hardest suspension ever. The newer ones have not got much better, I've driven a friends.

I'm also not a badge snob at all and don't really care who sells the car as long as it's good. It is comparable in driving to a Taycan. Maybe not quite as good, but actually maybe just more of a different drive than worse. I predict it will be more fun, with the Taycan more on the luxury side of things. Hell, pretty much the most 'fun' car ownership experience I've had amongst many lovely cars...was an Up GTI.

The Korean cars are outshining a lot of traditional manufacturers now. Anyone had a Mercedes recently? The creakiest interior ever!

Also, I own a 911, so I am set for dry summer drives and/or track days

I have a soft Spot for Hyundai/Kia because they are for a long time quite ambitious and creative, something I am missing from their peers.

I have not driven the 5N myself, Hope to get that opportunity soon. Clearly it is not a Taycan competitor, simply a fun inspired take on the Ioniq 5. I find taking the idea to simply having fun and sometimes Kind of overstepping great. Remember the 1st time using Launch control in your taycan ? Yes, hardly needed in everything traffic and most codrivers run into problems with it it, is just pure fun. The automotive world needs more of it, most cars are just the same and thus utterly boring.

I had a 5N for about a year before switching to a 4CT. Since I bought my 5N early the cost of a used Taycan was actually cheaper. The 5N is for sure smaller and feels more nimble and toss-able. It's super quick and all the settings are great if you do track days etc. The reasons I switched to the Taycan from the 5N are; the suspension in the Taycan is way better. Much more comfortable on the road and feels very confident in turns, especially when combined with bumps. 5N was very stiff for me, even in comfort mode, and I'm not taking it to the track. 5N seats are good but Taycan seats are way more comfortable and along with memory settings is a lot more adjustable, I'm 6'4" so the lower seat extension is key for me. My 4CT is a lot slower than the 5N but I didn't need that crazy speed, again I'm not tracking, I'm driving highways and streets, so the 4CT is fast enough. Would I take a 4S - yes I'd enjoy that for the slightly quicker acceleration - but I actually appreciate the more moderate acceleration but having access to the speed if I put the pedal all the way down. The Taycan looks better, has a better road presence and curb appeal. 5N is more stealth as far as the perception which is cool depending on how much you care about that stuff.

The shifting was fun to play with. I didn't use it much, but it was cool to simulate the sound and feeling when going for a drive at speed. My son loved it haha

I read somewhere that the 5N was tuned by a higher up BMW engineer, so hence the reason it will feel like a German car when driven. For the price, I would say it's the best EV under $100k

Recently? I looked at Mercedes most of the times I was switching cars over the last few decades (and I used to swap cars often). I remember growing up in Europe with very high opinion of Mercedes cars. Then in the later 90's in Canada I was finally shopping in the price ranges which included Mercedes. Well, every time I test drove one, it felt low quality, not very accurate assembly, and at that time, the absolute shortest new car warranty of all other manufacturers I looked at (it was 3 years where everyone else had 4 years for example). The latter shocked me, given my childhood and always hearing how Mercedes the most reliable car you could get. Bottom line is even though I looked at Mercedes when looking for my next car, it always came up short. The closest ever Merc for me was EQS AMG which made 3rd for my choices last time, it was Taycan Turbo CT, Lucid Sapphire, EQS AMG - in that order. After over a year of waiting for an allocation for the Taycan I was within 2 weeks of locking-in a Sapphire order when I found a surprise Taycan allocation on the opposite end of the continent, so the EQS was not even in the running. The only way I would have picked EQS AMG if they had one ready to pick up in 2021 or 2022, but those were the pandemic times, so there were none (AMG wasn't available till later anyways).

100%. My 2019 AMG C63 was an absolute beast of a car. The engine was fantastic and it was an absolute hoot to drive. The interior *looked* great too and it seemed like it had premium materials. But it was the creakiest interior I’ve had in any premium car. The whole centre console moved if you pushed it slightly. Show over quality imo

I steeled myself and watched it through this time. This is not thorough or particularly interesting imo

People are comparing these cars because of their capabilities. And finding that they are very close. Then they look at the rest of the package and yes, they are certainly different and obviously the Porsche has the luxury down nicely. But given the price points, it’s absolutely valid to compare the two because they are very close in the bits of the car that make them fun, exciting and interesting to drive as an EV. The interior quality of the Hyundai isn’t as nice and it doesn’t look as nice. But if what you want is a high performance, incredibly fun and brilliantly engineered car, that happens to be an EV: then you have to consider the 5N. A bit like you have to consider the Taycan. So yeah, not impressed with this very shallow comparison.

He should also learn to at least try to pronounce Hyundai, it ain’t a Honda

It's "Hee-on-die", as opposed to "Honn-dah" .
