Thx. Who should I reach out to at Porsche NA? Is there a department that deals with this?

you don't need a Lawyer for CA Lemon law - just a letter noting that you are requesting they buy it back because it's going to meet the CA 30 days out of service for any reason clause in CA Lemon law.

they should make you a full buy back offer and you can probably get them to drop any milage depreciation - I've had two cars bought back for exact cost (price + tax + registration + fees) - basically exactly what I paid refunded to me.

That has worked for me with Audi but not for my Macan that was in the shop more than 30 days and 5 times for an dealer-confirmed oil leak (you could see oil dripping and you could smell it too). Porsche NA did not accept my request to buyback and they did not even care to follow up to learn if the leak was fixed or to schedule an appoint for me for some specialist to check the car.. They literally left me in the mercy of the dealer who had failed repeatedly to address the issue.

Given what I have seen so far from their customer support I am afraid you will need a lawyer. Best of luck and keep us updated.

you could also go another way: I mean if the only thing wrong with the car is the battery you could
  1. get a kick ass loaner - demand a really nice something until your car is back
  2. negotiate a significant discount/refund - like significant discount/refund
  3. drive some one's else's car until march
  4. get your car back all bright/shiny and fixed up with a new battery

I'll talk to the dealer today, lets see what they say.
The simplest thing is to give it back and move on though. :) I have already spent too much time dealing with this.

@Dan3141 Thanks so much for the information. You are getting more information than me. My car has been in the shop with the same issue for a week now and all I've been told is they need to get a special tool from Germany to continue the diagnostics. Ugh. At least I finally got a loaner after having to escalate my complaints to a manager. Please keep us in the loop on the Lemon process. I have a strong feeling I'll be right behind you.

Having had two cars bought back under the Lemon Law (BMW and Mercedes) what I found to be the most helpful was the getting the service manager to do the leg work for you. If you have not already done so, build up a good relationship with him/her. That person knows the service history of the car. If the service manager knows the car is a lemon he/she will tell corporate and the car should be taken back without issue. On my BMW I had 6 high pressure fuel pumps go out. The service manager told me on a Friday afternoon "Don't worry, I will take care of it"--by Tuesday of the following week I received a call from BMW corporate with an offer to buy the car back.
I am not saying Porsche will be that easy buy it helps to have an advocate on the inside on your side.
Good luck.

Agree with @Marshall. Both the service manager and the general manager at my dealership were very professional. Obviously they are not happy having customers complain and push back Porsche NA and Porsche Germany.

Good luck with that. Let us know if you get an answer. I am still waiting for an email acknowledging my inquiry last October.... In my experience the only thing that arrives like clockwork is the lease monthly bill.

I had the 12V battery problem on my Turbo. Car was a total brick and it took 3.5 hours for the two truck driver to get it out of my garage. Porsche should really send a tech for these problems rather than a tow truck driver who knows nothing about the car.

This thread is really giving me pause and making me consider canceling my Taycan order. I’ve had a variety of issues with Tesla over the years, but they always took care of me, up to and including a buy back and replacement. They gave me a loaner for 2 months while I waited for my replacement car to arrive.

I would expect MORE from Porsche, not less.

I’ve had 2 battery issues with my Taycan 4S

1) both key fob batteries completely dead within 3 months of ownership with very light usage. Apparently, the car kept communicating with the fob and the red light on my key kept blinking thus draining the batteries.
2) the 12v issue everyone else is talking about here. Car completely dead while it was plugged in! The point of having an EV is so it’s plugged in and ready to go. I shut down using the start button and locked the car. I noticed that the car automatically unlocked and then eventually drained the battery while it sat for about 4 weeks unused. I was using the app and had a charge timer and climate timer set.
Very frustrated that there are electric issues like this for so long and yet Porsche still hasn’t figured it out. Not ok to say wait for a software update and in the meantime stop plugging it in and stop using the timer and apps!
